If he isn't our first-choice acquisition for a striker because we are lining up a better prospect (ability-wise), who are we signing that's affordable??

I'm not going to believe we've found a better prospect ability wise until I hear the name.

The only other alternatives I can think of, but probably just as expensive as Daka, would be Malen (PSV), Edouard (Celtic).

My guess is it'll be that Rafael Leao from Milan. Portuguese, 21 years old, 6ft 2 and pretty sure Mendes is his agent.

He certainly isn't bad, not as big of a prospect as someone like Daka though - but he'd probably be affordable.

Only slight problem with this shout, is I can't tell if he's more of a winger these days or striker that likes to drift wide.

...also showcases excellent injury picking-up ability

Could also be Myron Boadu. Being scouted by all the top clubs apparently, especially since he scored on debut for the Dutch national team last year. He's super quick.

I find it hard to believe he would rather stay in Austria than play in the prem. probably more likely Salzburg will ship him off to Liepzig with the hope to inflate his fee and demand 70m+ in a couple seasons time.

It means either pay the full asking price or that's exactly what we'll do (RB) it's an easy business model for sure.

Noooooo

The “actual” under the radar striker better be good/damn it Kanoute. Although, I choose to believe that it is mostly energy drink garbage behind this decision.

He is also very good, but doesn’t fit into the 21-25 year old category - unless that age description was wrong

Surely that’s just a ploy to get us to offer higher wages?

Confirms we are in for him though, good news on that front. Obviously people will get wound up and think it means the deal is dead but it’s all part of the game.

This from Dan KP and now what JJ has just tweeted (sarcastic or not) means this one is probably done now.

Don't get me wrong, the skiing is fun, but if you're a pro footballer why the hell would anyone want to stay in Austria? Not sure I buy that

I'd imagine his agent is keen for hm to stay another year as (a) his value will probably go up significantly if he has another standout year (which is much more likely in Austria), (b) because of Covid-19 his value will be at least double next summer, and (c) he knows he will play second fiddle to Kane with us.
