We look so so unfit. That’s all I’m taking from today’s game as first game judgement is nonsense. Not sure there was a single player who looked close to being match fit, even Lucas who’s usually buzzing around looked really laboured. Maybe we shouldn’t worry about having big squad for all these games coming up and just start them all to get some fitness.

I'll say it only once more.

Hojbjerg doesn't solve our midfield
Prime Pirlo and Xavi wouldn't solve our problems.

I'm not sure we have more than one player with a picture in their mind of what's around them and knows how to construct a move that isn't give it to the Wideman and leg it into the box.
You just have to look at how many players want the ball when a man is in possession. (It's very few)

Let's face it, our actual passing game has been shit for years, now the legs and desire seem to be going the same way.

And so many players whose first touch is (a generous) 50/50.

The only time we look half decent is when teams are open to the counter attack, and even then it's massively hit and miss.

:(

He's a world class striker, not a holding midfielder. He shouldn't be charging around the pitch making challenges, if he is then something has gone badly wrong with how we are playing.
Hardly. He should be leading from the front. He never challenged any balls going towards him and was walking around when he was within pressing distance of the ball. His attitude and play was shit and it’s annoying me that people are using this game as a reason for him to go and knock on Levy’s door asking to go.

You'd expect him to be more aggressive in the press or run some channels to allow our wide players inside and create some chaos in Evertons defense though. Not find the closest CB and man mark him. Harry Kane is world class but he is more than capable of putting in these half arsed performances.

Jose needs to scrap the lopsided full back experiment and stop playing 4231.

We have zero balance and zero creativity.

Early days but very worrying as lots of the same issues as last season.

steve hitchen has to take a lot of the blame as well, came across really bad on the amazon doc, and been here since 2017, what truly successful purchase have we had since then?
Been saying he should be sacked for years.

Clearly one of Levys pals.

I don't think that was actually the biggest issue today - yeah Everton created more than us, but didn't really create that much until they scored from the free kick and forced us to take the game to them...which we failed to in spectacular fashion.
Everton created only one very good chance, and that was from a freak mistake on our part. The header, while should have been sorted out, probably Toby's ball, but Dier should have also done better, was a fabulous goal. The first half for me was typical Mou, We actually created by enlarge the better chances, we had 5 shots they had 6, but most of Everton's attempts were pot shots, while the Doherty chance and the Dele chance, would on other days be goals, very good chances.

The second half, was the real problem, and that was the structure change, we created some difficulties for everton because Kane, Son and Dele were moving so well, we had a stodginess in defence and midfield but those three players were actually doing there jobs. Second half we killed the biggest positive thing and there was nothing.

Spurs looked atrocious in the second half but that Everton midfield is going to be a problem for a lot of clubs this year. They did some good work during the window.

We could easily of bought that midfield. Ours has been a problem for two years!

Adversaries press and chalenge Winks, Moura, Sissoko, Dele, Davies. Not good enough to play fast and/or under pressure.

With Ndombele, lo Celso and Hojbjerg the team will become atacking and possession oriented.

Dier and Toby have to start the atacking phase with more confidence and upper on the field.

If there was a striker on the bench, the Sissoko sub might not have happened.

Defense really has to step up agressiveness and pressure on the ball.

Bale just become a bit more needed. For the fear factor alone. For the speed and skill mostly.

The first sub was bad, should have been Ndombele, Lamela would have been able to come on later to play between the lines.

The team can't function unless there is a player (preferably two) in midfield that wants to be progressive with the ball however the movement upfront is non existent.

Too many players lack basic awareness (poor positioning etc), don't forget about the patented slow passes all over the pitch.

Moura used to be wide player but Spurs have turned into some kind of inverted nothing, his positioning is bad, he doesn't run at the full back, he doesn't create space for the overlap and his first touch is...

Winks' awareness of what's ahead of him is so bad and his passing is ugh, those feels again

Kane isn't fully fit and wasn't a threat all game.

Toby's reading of the game has got gotten worse.

Dier was poor.

Davies is just meh and isn't a threat at all.

Hoiberg was in position a lot but he must play with a passer.

It would be major progress if half the starting lineup had a good first touch

Mourinho just said that they were pressing high so there was lots of space between their midfield and defence. And that’s why he took Alli off for Sissoko..? That makes no fucking sense.

His attitude was shit today too. He looks fucked and he wasn’t leading by example at all.
I didn't watch the England game, but was he happier there? Something is just not right in his mind I thought. Last season gave him some benefit of doubts for perhaps the season was in turmoil with Poch sacked. But he didnt look too enthusiastic either in the season before last IIRC. I thought he will be more fired up when the season started but same as last season, he began with the season always looking so tired.

I would go all out and just get Grealish. Sell a few and do it.
Grealish would be good but why would he come here? He is a Villa fan and won’t be rushed to joining this debacle; if he wants to leave in January or the summer he’ll have better places teams than us interested.
