Is Ollie Holt banned by Levy yet ? He’s such a twat

Maybe he should be complaining more about the fact Orient seem to have been negligent with their COVID testing?

I personally wouldn’t want to play them at all at the moment as the players they put out would probably have had contact with them infected ones and last thing we need with all our fixture congestion is to have a load of ours come down with it.

Much as Orient are my second team this just looks bad on them.

Not just the congestion. Should key players get sick we could go out of the Carabao and Europa League. We could also drop plenty of points in the league and basically fuck up the rest of the season.

They're mine too but if they've abided by the EFL rules then they have not been negligent.

The EFL being negligent/incompetent for setting out said rules is a different matter altogether and if they were truly bothered about testing the EFL should have covered the cost of testing all football league teams, which they certainly can afford to do.

Will be interesting to see if they have followed EPL rules as something has gone wrong for that number of cases to be confirmed.

If they have followed the rules then the EPL need to take ownership as not robust enough.

(Unless a load of the squad have been to one our Kyle Walker’s secret sex parties lol).

It’s somewhat refreshing to think something to do with Spurs is a complete shambles and for once Spurs are the innocent party.

This is a bloody ridiculous situation though. I can only think that the Orient chairman has challenged the legal standing/interpretation of the EFL’s rules and the EFL are running scared. Otherwise there should be no debate or confusion on this.

Still no official confirmation of what is happening. Almost certainly the game isn't going ahead tonight. Sky Sports apps are saying it's still happening. This is weird.

No confirmation with 4 hours to go... What a strange scenario
Incompetence, it makes you glad that we have almost nothing to do with them.

I've just realised, we're only thinking about the players, what about the match officials?! They could have potentially infected 4 different matches at the weekend

There’s a sadistic part of me that would really enjoy us knocking seven bells out of a Orient under 13s side...

then there’s my spurs anxiety worried that we might lose.

I agree but think if there were fans at the game they would have announced it last night. The fact there are no fans means that they can announce fairly late although there is tv to consider

I guess that as it’s a behind closed doors fixture there’s no need for an announcement yet. The club will be well aware of the plans for the fixture, it’s just us minions who’ll be left in the dark.

I like the O’s and don’t like to see them losing out on a much needed cash injection, however it’s only fair that the game is cancelled and we get a bye. It’ll be a welcome piece of good news and deservedly so for us in light of our horrendous fixture pile up.

Especially after the hash we made of the Young Boys away match a few years back...

So, as it stands;
  • There have been multiple positive tests
    • All of the first team squad and staff should be self isolating
    • There is no guarantee that retests in 7 or 14 days will be clear or that new cases will not arise
  • Brisbane Road and training ground is closed
    • Orient have no alternative venue to host the match
This is what the EFL rules state

5 Non-fulfilment of Fixtures

5.1 A Club which is unable to fulfil its obligation to complete a Competition match in Round One to (and including) Round Four due to either:

5.1.1 that Club’s Player(s) having returned a positive CAT result and self-isolating in accordance with the action plan set out in the Return to Play/Return to Training Protocols resulting in the Club not having a sufficient number of Players to fulfil the fixture; or

5.1.2 any requirements or directions of the UK Government and/or by any public authority,

shall forfeit the fixture, pay the opposing Club’s expenses in accordance with Rule 5.8 and the opposing team shall receive a bye into the next round of the Competition.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me

We don't have all the information to know whether it is cut or dried or not.

Orient say they can put out a team, that fulfils part 5.1.1 (it wouldn't necessarily be competitive, but would fulfil it)
We don't know what PHE are saying whether what Orient are proposing is acceptable or not, to comply with regulations, so we don't know 5.1.2 has been breached.

It could be that PHE are OK with what Orient propose, but we are uncomfortable with it, we just don't know. If PHE were totally not happy with it, I am sure game would already have been postponed.

I think the only thing that is likely is game will not take place tonight though, although there may be some trading going on behind scenes in respect of whether we progress or not at this stage.

Serge is caught out of position, panics and rushes back, hacking down little Jimmy in the box. They convert the penalty and get through to the next round.
Little Jimmy needs to use a scribe to transcribe for his SATs due to screws he’s had to have in right wrist.

We’ve been here before!
