If Orient are able to field a team next week we could play it instead of the Chelsea game. Then Chelsea the following week and if we get through we will end up with another sun tues thurs sun week to catch up before the next round which is 22 dec.
I think the club will probably try to play it if only to help Orient.
Carabao Cup is not a priority for us unless we get knocked out of the Europa.
a trophy is...

The confusion about postponement or cancellation may be related to Brisbane Road being closed. Presumably PHE is demanding a deep clean of the stadium. If Orient are arguing that they are able to field a team BUT are prevented from using the stadium, they may have a case for a postponement.

You just know we'll end up getting fucked over by this, one way or another.

Rules are rules, and you'd think the people who made them would be able to follow them...actually, maybe not...

The bit about talks ongoing about the implications tells me there is disagreement between the clubs. If that disagreement is based on us highlighting that neither us nor Chelsea (in the event they beat Barnsley) have no flexibility in our schedules then I think that leans towards one team forfeiting. But there’s a lot of talk amongst Orient fans that they had a team ready to play tonight so who forfeits may come down to who made the decision not to play tonight - was it us due to reservations or was it the authorities?

If the 2 teams are in disagreement then the EFL need to make the call (like they should anyway)

Chelsea won't like it one bit delaying the game next, but they can do nothing about it..assuming they beat barnsley it'll go to after the int break when we have our no 9 avail

Them being told the game goes ahead next Tuesday (with them not being able to play any of their infected players), and Sky telling them it would not be televised on the rescheduled date (as there are 4th round ties they will pick instead) would change their position.
This is just going to come down to how much compensation for them to accept a forfeit.

Wouldnt be surprised if they await the results of our EL game on thursday to make the decision. If we crash out, every mid week suddenly opens up

Also Barnsley v Chelsea result. If Barnsley somehow beat Chelsea it does open up some date possibilities (Tuesday's before Europa Group Stage Thursday's), but I agree I don't think we will have a decision until Friday about who we are playing next Tuesday (unless a 6 figure compensation is agreed in the meantime to progress)

I know we're in different circumstances, and it's a different competition etc etc, but this just makes me even more fucked off that the lasagna game wasn't postponed. We only wanted it pushed back by a few hours, the bastards!!

Failing that, they could arrange with Sky/BT to ensure that immediately following one of the international breaks, Tottenham and Chelsea are both playing on the Saturday. You could then have Spurs-Chelsea on the Monday night before Chelsea play the Champions League on Wednesday.

If nothing else this has exposed a glaring hole in testing. You can bet other teams are sorting out testing for their opposition later in the week. Lincoln v Liverpool etc.

Don’t even know if lower league teams are obliged to accept testing!? Why would they if they could potentially lose out on tv revenue. The whole thing is a shambles.

Orient chairman Nigel Travis just now on Sky:

"The appropriate action is for this game to take place. We followed all the guidelines. If we’re forced to forfeit, it’s a demonstration that doing the right thing doesn’t work. It’s an incentive NOT to test."

Pretty certain that the guidelines didn't tell them to ignore the sudden bout of illness during a pandemic, play anyway, and not bother with any testing of this whatsoever until someone else coughed up the money for it.

Fuck em, force em to forfeit. Sounds like they're willing to risk other clubs safety just for theirs.
