On the contrary I wish our ex spurs pundits felt the some emotion about us if we had that kind of defeat

I would imagine they do. But there is a level of professionalism required for TV. This was just awful watching for me, and probably a lot of neutral fans.

Win that was much needed. Will definitely be interesting when we also have Bale in contention.

Son and Kane looking like they are getting better and better (which is something considering how good they both are). Hojbjerg was really good. Such great instincts about when to step up and break up a pass. Sissoko was awesome breaking up play and pressuring the United MF. Ndombele has to get those lazy passes out of his game. Lots of great in his game, but that needs to stop. Reguilon and Doherty pushing Davies and Aurier and the results are clear to see. Dele was much more controlled when he came on which was nice to see as he normally is the first to lose his head in games where the tension is high. Dier was very composed. Sanchez should know better than to put a foot in. Lloris, really not much to do. I do note (and believe credit may go to Hart), there is far better communication between keeper and defenders. That's a great thing.

Now, on to the controversies (no shortage). Yes, Sanchez naively put his foot in. Martial happily threw himself to ground as soon as he felt it. It's what he was looking for and was a dive. Hate seeing it so certainly will not condone Lamela going down. It was a deliberate hand to the face so rightly a red for Martial (cheap or not - we have suffered similar fates). VAR did look at the Lamela contact and, I presume, determined that the contact started on the chest and moved up. Only Lamela knows if the intent was to ride the chest to the neck/chin. He definitely has mischief in him, so would not be surprised. Point is, if one looked at the two incidents in isolation, Martial would probably be red each time (soft or not). Lamela may have been, may have not been, depending on the day and person looking at it (my whole objection to VAR - not objective at all). Shaw on Moura was a red - deliberate contact with the player with no intent/ability to get the ball. Bailly deliberately stomping on Kane's calf was a red. Pogba deliberately raking down Hojbjerg was a red. All three were deliberate with really no way to see it otherwise especially with replays. Son had two reds last year that were far less offensive. VAR is supposed to catch these. If the result is that teams on the losing side of a hiding can now do whatever they want, that is not going to work out well.

Man of the match was Mourinho for me. Starting Lamela was inspired (I did not expect that). Getting him off at the half was 100% necessary (many would have waited until 60 minutes - would probably have been too late). Getting Dele in there was really key too as he has had the kick up the butt and is now getting the arm around the shoulder. Awesome MF set-up that was like a pack of dogs against a team that did not seem up for it. We are usually the team on that side of the ledger. Nice to see. Mourinho is stamping his mark on this squad and it is great to see. Red card changed the game to be sure, but we were all over them at that point and already up 2-1.

Awesome week for Spurs. Long way to go in the season. Into the next round of the Carabao Cup, into the group stages of the EL and, in both cases, we are in a good position. Onward and upward.

It's quite funny how Man Utd fans and the media were jizzing themselves towards the end of last season and suddenly they need a total rebuild again.

Jenas talks about spurs in a passionate way but knows where to draw the line thankfully

The best bit was when Gary Neville said Spurs have Bale to come and Tyler said he wanted United or something to that effect. That’s the point where I stopped getting angry about it and just burst out laughing.

I swear you could hear Neville murmur in the background “no he didn’t”.

As far as ex Spurs pundits go theres only really Jenas out ther imo.
Hoddle, despite his history with us, is Chelsea boy imo.
Sherwood, yeah right, Arsenal fan.
Jamie Redknapp, no love lost there.
Souness, fkin hates us for how we treated him.
Alan Brazil, fkin hates us for the cup final he was dropped in after scoring a hattrick in the semi.
Garth Crooks, talks bollox.
Who have we got representing us other than that?
Clive Allen is alright I suppose when he makes a rare appearance.
Anyway we hardly get fair representation. If it isn't a Liverpool or Manc accent its fkin Alan Smith!
Edit, shame on me, forgot Lineker. He's ok in my book. Leicester lover but has Spurs in his heart.

Impressive performance. Impressive and entertaining. Many Spurs teams of old would have still given up chances and even goals when playing against ten men. The second half was also instructive. There's a structure emerging that's easy on the eye when we at it, we killed the game, didn't bust a gut and just quietly went about the business of winning the match by taking our chances when they came, they never got a sniff. United obviously have problems but that's for them to worry about, all we can do is exactly what we did.

I know there's a fair few on here who aren't his biggest fans, one of the biggest criticisms being the boring style he brings to the team. The last few games it's got better and better and we're starting to look like there's a very good team in there, we look like a Spurs team. The players aren't being stifled, we're attacking, scoring goals and looking good while doing it. If we can do that consistently then we might have a very good season.

Anyway, can we put that Mourinho only plays boring football horseshit to bed now?

But it’s not all about structure and strategy. Although that’s vital.
It’s 90% about what’s going through your head.
Do the players have the ‘belief’ they can play the way the manager wants them to?
Do the players ‘believe’ they can adapt when they go a goal (or two) down?
Do the players ‘believe‘ they can go through the pain barrier and reap the rewards?
Do the players ‘want’ to do this for (not themselves) but for a higher purpose of ‘the team‘ and ‘the fans’? Their family and friends?
Do the players have complete faith in the manager’s approach?

If there is 100% buy-in....then a team full of talent excels and goes far.
But...the talent is 90% mental...and 10% technical.

All sport is played in the head.
A great manager understands this and takes the time to instil this attitude and let it permeate into their play.

Although I was suspicious of José’s ability at the beginning - I now truly believe he has the skills and the coaching team around him to make this happen.
Things are coming together.
But don’t doubt the hard graft and learning going on behind the scenes.

Hoddle is legit a boyhood Spurs fan, to say he is more Chelsea is a bit mad? Did you not see him v Ajax? After heart attack and went absolutely nuts. He's one of us.

Glenn Hoddle is Tottenham, always was and always will be. But apart from that you’re right.
