Will you congratulate Brighton if we are equally poor on Sunday?
I think you're missing the point here

This was a classic cup fixture. If the better team are below par and the weaker side raise their game, then you get an unexpected result.
We were bad they were good, that's why the result was a win for them. Both needed to happen.

If we play like that on Sunday Brighton will have a great chance to turn us over. You can't be off like we were tonight for any game in the Prem, otherwise you'll get beat.

Antwerp deserve credit for playing well, their defending was strong, esp 2nd half.
And we deserve every criticism for a very casual, laboured performance.

We’ll see if you do then. I have never been in a match thread where I’ve seen such collective sucking up to the opposition. It’s embarrassing tbh.
Now you’re being downright strange. I’m not sucking up to Antwerp. I’m saying they played better than us today. Which they did. Indisputably. Unless you are claiming they didn’t deserve to win I have no idea what point you’re making. I’m not claiming they are 1970 Brazil

To be fair we were playing a team unbeaten at home for 14 months they have probably not played a team as big as us in years this was their champions League final. Jose fielded a mixed bag some using the game to get fit others trying to play their way onto Sundays team sheet. Sadly the latter failed. We move on to Sunday we owe them a good hiding.

I don't care if they are unbeaten in 10 years at home. They play in a mediocre league. They have mediocre players. A top club should win these games, even with the reserves.

It does seem that his development has stalled. Has all the physical skills but positioning and concentration still not up to standard.
I've never been a fan always thought he had limitations but when I've mentioned it in the past I was told he's still young and has potential. I believe that now what you see is what you are going to get. He's a risk and makes to many mistakes.

No need to over react to the result. We were poor but these things happen when you under estimate teams.

Mourinho says he takes the blame. I think he under estimated them too.

I feel our biggest problem is we (players and fans) have become too arrogant and think we’re better than we are. Saying that, I have to hold my hands up and congratulate Antwerp on beating this year’s Europa Champions.

I don't know if I can defend Sanchez any longer. That was his worst performance of the season for me, really really poor. I can't see Rodon or Tanganga being worse at the moment.

Unless he gets his act together he's very quickly slipping into the list of players we need to look to move on.
Sanchez was not the worse player out there tonight. The defence was not protected enough by the midfield. As they say, if you go looking only for the negatives, you are going to miss out on what he did well

I dont think our effort was bad. Guys tried but it just didnt click.

On the other side Antwerp played game of their lifes. Brilliant defending, movement and passing.

Such games happen, we will still go to next round easily.

We will destroy Brighton too.

He is not my favourite but he was one of our best players tonight. Never put a foot wrong. Well, there was that one fk up in the first half but other than that lol. Played well.

Apart from allowing them an easy assist for the goal. He is just not up to standard which is a shame because I had high hopes when he joined.

Him not being the worst player doesn't exactly excuse his display. He made multiple individual errors.

We were outplayed from the start. Credit to Antwerp. There is no such thing as an easy game, some of our players from the start just didn't seem to give a shit.

We were very poor but I don't agree we were outplayed we didn't seem to have the desire for it. I do agree they could have had 4 goals and had they had a decent striker they would have.

Just watching the gooner Dundalk game now.

Commentators just mentioned our 1–1 draw against Dundalk which is a game I was actually at.

October 81, I was 7 and my first actual Spurs game. My dad was a school teacher in Belfast and took myself and a minibus full of kids down to Dundalk for the game. Despite being disappointed with the score, I still feel so fucking happy to have seen that team play.

Ray Clemence, Chrissie Hughton, Paul Miller, Graham Roberts, Steve Perryman, Micky Hazard, Tony Galvin, Ossie, Garth Crooks, Stevie Archibald and my GOAT, Glenn Hoddle.

What a fucking team that was!! Every single one of them is a Spurs legend!!

What?

Go into the Everton thread from earlier this season when we lost 1-0. Everton battered us and we were just as poor as we were today. There’s next to nobody congratulating Everton on a deserved win. Why is this game different?

I’m pissed off and angry at how disgracefully we performed and my first thought isnt to congratulate Antwerp for that. Performances like that can ruin form and confidence. We’ve not looked arsed whatsoever in this tournament so far; this isn’t an anomaly. We were 5 minutes away from being eliminated by a team nowhere near as good as Royal Antwerp with arguably a better team. My anger is a continuation of the shit attitude these players have to this tournament. We won’t win anything if they don’t sort their attitudes out.

Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes
Trouble is our starting XI were terrible and even with the changes we found it hard to find the needed tempo against a team that defended pretty well.
2nd half they still looked more likely to score than us.

Our recent tendancies have been to struggle against teams that set two banks of 5s against us. Even with our brilliant recent efforts, most goals have been when we were allowed space to run and play. It is something we still need to work on.
We do still consistently miss that clever little player that can play between the lines. Ndombele is starting to do this more and I hope we can move to GLC starting in CM soon.

Different attitude at home vs these guys and we should win. They have proved themselves to be no mugs tho.
