To be fair we were the only ones not to spend big in the summer so if anyone has a financial advantage it's us having said that Levys tight! We're skint, the squad is bloated and we need to sell.

Seems to have played in the final third mainly, and very much as a Luis Enrique style utility attacker (even playing up front on occasion) until the middle of last season as revealed by some further digging, but the switch seems to have come in January since when he’s been used mainly in CM.I thought he played further forward than central midfield but if he has been playing there this season and impressing then lets hope he's being lined up for there
Yeah people seem to forget that we are already 3 over our foreign player limit while they are selling Dele and Winks and bringing in Sabitzer.
Worst thing we could do is sell Kane. It shouldn't be a consideration, at all.I know it might be worth its own thread, but tbh I don't think it should go in the Kane thread atm.
FWIW I'd love Kane to stay at the club and win things, however we have a few problems.
1) We need to upgrade 3-4 first XI positions to truly kick on (CM, CB and imo a top RWF and RB).
2) We are up to our eyeballs in debt and COVID keeping fans out of the stadium is going to be hitting us very hard.
3) All of the players we ideally need to sell are not desirable to other teams, especially at what we want for them.
We may be forced to listen to offers this summer and that isn't even considering the fact that he himself will be looking elsewhere and considering where he can win things and win them quickly. City will come knocking this summer, so might Real, PSG or even Barca with their current woes.

First purchase with the Kane money.
What the fuck is wrong with you?I know it might be worth its own thread, but tbh I don't think it should go in the Kane thread atm.

Yeah, because those situations are exactly the same.Maybe I'm the only one that's realistic here. Probably comes from the months of telling myself that Bale was never going to leave Spurs all those years ago.

Not quite sure what your point is now. Your first post seemed to suggest you wanted us to sell him to fund other signings. Now you're the "realistic" fan seeing it as an inevitability.Ambitious players who want to win things in their career?
Actually, Kane leaving this summer after giving Jose a full season makes more sense than Bale leaving when he did. Kane has had years as a world class player and only has a few left whereas Bale had only hit world class levels the season before he went.

This is Kane's 7th season of performing to an elite level. Before he got a huge salary he had numerous opportunities to leave but never showed any desire at all. Once Bale got up to level he left straight away.
I would say that's a pretty fundamental difference in the situations, wouldn't you?
Thanks for the reply.I'll make myself clearer then.
I don't want Kane to go. I want him to stay and win things with us as he himself has re-iterated in the past. However we need significant investment still and have no obvious way of raising the funds. Coupled with COVID having screwed us and the stadium debt we will have to dip back in to the bargain bucket to freshen things up.
Not to go all Danny Rose, but would that excite a player who will be 28 this summer and wants to win things?
It will be in his mind that if he wants top honours, the likelihood is he will have to go elsewhere. Yes he hasn't taken the opportunity to jump ship like Bale did in the past, but that was because he was working with a manager he deeply respected (Poch) and had time on his side. Time no longer is on his side and there is every chance that he will regard it as a now or never situation.
So my being pragmatic about the situation may upset a lot of you, but I see it as making the best out of a bad situation. When Bale left we re-invested it and even though only 2-3 of them worked out, the money from subsequent sales of Chirches, Paulinho et al lead to the purchases of Son and Alderweireld.
If Kane leaves and we get £125-150m for him (no-one will pay north of that thanks to COVID) we can make significant reinvestments into the playing staff and move on a level.
Is that who you would compare him to?
Have not seen much of this guy, but from reading others views, he seems to be an all rounder and has a bit of cutting edge.
If he is of similar levels to Wijnaldum he will improve us.
Not going to jump all on you about this... But Football to me isn't all about trophies, yes it's important don't get me wrong its also about community and other things. Kane is may be a once in a generation player coming through the system and playing for his boyhood club, for the fans that means a lot it's not all about what we can do with the money.I know it might be worth its own thread, but tbh I don't think it should go in the Kane thread atm.
