I think the phrase 'spurious' is generous here. You're using an indirect reference to attribute blame.
He could well have believed that bigger clubs deserve respect and a larger slice, but the 'feeling that Uefa simply doesn’t listen to us as a League' isn't an owned view, or indeed directly related to the ESL.
I could have the view that the government is useless and needs changing, and should listen to people more. It wouldn't mean I was plotting to be the next Guy Fawkes
