€14m seemed like a lot but €5m seem extremely cheap for a current international with years of top-flight experience, even if he is 32. I guess we just prioritised getting him off the wage bill.

Isn't this what some of you wanted?

#JustSellThem - doesn't matter about a few million.

Oh wait, of course it fucking does. Bunch of Dunning-Krugers.

Why the fuck are we going mental on the low fee.

Fee was never the problem. With Toby, it was always the wages the issue.

We saved 15.6m by shipping Toby + the fee.

This was a player, who no other club was interested 2 years back to trigger the 25m release clause...why ? because of the wages he wanted.
Toby got his move, we moved a player who is on decline and in process saved 15m of wages...

Hahahahaha it saves a bit on wages but that's fuck all considering he was our best defender. If we fail to get two big improvements in at CB by the end of the summer then it probably would have been better just keeping him and trying to sell Dier for peanuts instead.

Some standpoints are ridiculous. Criticise the club for not selling, for haggling over a few million, for keeping unhappy players, "it's not my money", then gearing up for a meltdown because some twitter journo has suggested that very scenario (not doing any of that) occurred.

To be honest keeping one senior defender while the new signings bed in makes sense, so I can see Dier staying primarily for that reason. I also think Dier might be of use in a back three but we'll have to see how/if Nuno wants to use him.
I wish it was Toby we kept.

People are just looking for an excuse to lose their shit today (with this alleged fee and missing out on Kounde). It's a shame, as the forum hasn't be a toxic cess pool for a few days now.

We moaned at Levy for not accepting lowball offers for players that needed moving on if they're the only offers on table then the moan when we do it

Every other source has it at 11.4m including BBC, transfermarkt, Romano etc. Would be strange if we let him go for so cheap but as long as we get a replacement in Romero plus another then I'll be happy

Tottenham network sources from Qatar - | The value of the Toby Alderweireld deal is equivalent to 65 million Qatari riyals; That's 15 million euros ..

- Not as it is rumored that the value was 5 million euros .
