If we’d held a sweepstake at the start of the season guessing what league position we’d be in when folk started demanding the immediate return of Ryan Mason, I don’t think many people would have guessed 6th

Not sure what you expect him to do. West Ham had 3 defenders round him constantly because our ball movement was so ponderous and predictable.

Yes, but our lack of movement starts with Kane, has done ever since his body broke down. Been yeeaars now. We won't see good movement until the day he leaves.

Never understand where this Nuno is a nice guy thing comes from? He is outright rude to the reporters who ask pretty standard questions to him

Totally agree, ive got no problem with people fucking off the media but there are simple questions the fans deserve answered. His cliche, pretentious pseudo-intellectual arrogant persona is reflected in his in game management

He’s a sausage.

Would rather Mason given the reigns at least until Jan if not the rest of the season, surely couldn't do worse than this.....
Mason was useless. Get him and you get Winks. If Nuno goes we need someone with fresh ideas. Not much out there to be honest.

No. This is entirely on Nuno. He sacrificed Thursday to prepare for this game. The players had absolutely no idea what to do when they got the ball. It was embarrassing.

At the start of the season - the complaint was we were too negative, and sat too deep, conceding possession. Today, we spent most of the time in West Ham's end. We did not concede possession, we simply could not penetrate their defense. But, it was not because Nuno set up wrong - West Ham stayed organized, and the attacking players could not break it down.

It wasn't a tactical error that conceded the goal.

What an idiotic piece of play from Reguillon to give it away before the corner. Then Kane to be so shit not even reacting to the ball until it was in the back of the net.

West Ham are a solid awkward team that you can't afford to make errors against because they want to get set pieces and knick it 1-0. Some of these players don't have the humility to realize we are not a dominant team and in games like today we need to do the basics right. Keep it 0-0 and take your chances when they come.

Gutting to be at a place where I could happily see 9 of this starting eleven sold and I wouldn’t miss them. I feel utterly disconnected from the team these days against the sheer love and passion and pride of the Jol era, the Redknapp era, the Poch era… right now I feel like I’m just treading water waiting for the inevitable 90s style mediocrity and a season of looking to see if we might just finish above the halfway from once…

Credit to West Ham, whatever you lot say on here they're a really good outfit. Rice just keeps them ticking along nicely and Antonio is a battering ram. The other midfielders are quality too and their right back is excellent. We were ok first half but we faded badly in the 2nd and simply didn't have the guile or tactics to launch a worthwhile attack. Kane wasn't at the races either which doesn't help. Overall a midtable performance from a team who's likely to finish between 7th and 9th.

I thought the defence played well. Apart from two moments where he was pushed in the back, Romero was very good. Dier also strong. Our problem is our FBs offer zero offensive threat and Kane, Son, Moura were all very poor going forwards. Royal is almost pointless at RB in the opponents half as all he will do is a step over and then pass back to Romero. I personally think Kane looks very jaded and slow and he needs to play off a more mobile, faster target man. He is too easy to crowd out and he rarely runs the channels with any pace.

He once single-handedly rescued 17 kittens from an erupting volcano.

If he'd used his other hand, it would have been 18.

You mean to tell me adult footballers need to be told how to pass and shoot..?
Every single time we had the ball in West Ham’s half, we looked lost. It’s quite clear that Nuno has coached our defence and holding midfielders but the likes of Kane, Son and Ndombele are improvising every time we have an attack. There’s no clear plan whatsoever and that falls on Nuno’s head.

This is a classic SC post - "Manager should be sacked" AND "Players aren't good enough!"

So, is this down to Nuno? Or the players? What should Nuno have done differently here? The players who started gave us our best chance at scoring - why make changes, just for the sake of making changes?

The reality is West Ham have a good squad, they played at home, and eked out a 1-0 victory. Shit happens.
True, and it probably should have been 0-0 to be honest. However, we should have built on the first half and really taken it to them but we just sat back. I thought we looked solid defensively through the middle and our creative players collectively were poor; if they had clicked we would have won the game. Simple.
