Absolutely delighted with Conte's comments tonight. Like the Man United result, this defeat could be a huge turning point in player incomings and outgoings.

I think too many of our fans were expecting Conte to come in mid season and suddenly bang everything was going to be this positive trajectory attached to a rocket but our players have been poor for a couple of years now. It's going to take time, he has so much work to do both globally on how the team works as a unit but also with each individual, there's so many mistakes in these players, things they need to improve. I fully expect Conte to improve anywhere from a few players to a lot of players but it's going to take time.

I mean the match thread is full talk about lambasting effort and gutlessness but what I saw was about a lack of quality to me. We went down to a red card because of a young player being over eager and foolish, then yeah I thought 3/4 players subs were playing poorly but that 2nd half to me at least was not a lack of effort from anybody on a pitch. It was lacking quality and then compounded by sloppy mistakes.

It's going to take time, I don't why a lot thought that these players who have struggled with the basics in recent seasons are suddenly going to smash it, it's going to take a while and yeah eventually some of these players will need to be sold but Conte is going to need time to get things going. I'm not expecting a great deal this season, I'm hopeful due to other teams problems we might be able to put together a top4 run but yeah, I think the reaction is borne out of expecting things to be smooth sailing going forward but I think we know these players have this type of result in them and I think it's foolish to think Conte in 3 weeks is going to remove it entirely.

We all know how this will go, Conte will demand players, Which Levy has "promised" him. Then when every team know Spurs are desperate because they know what Conte have demanded, Levy puls out because of insane pricing and noone would want our players for more than 10 mil max. SAME everey year and i have no faith it will be any different now, absolutely no faith. burnt WAY to many times

Hopefully another sliding doors moment as you say.
Man.U game made us pull the trigger and stop fucking around with poor bad fit managers, hopefully tonight will do the same in terms of the squad, so so obvious and clear on a good number of these who're not good enough.

No pressure come January Danny Boy! Sure Conte is going to want backing then and also the next stage of the clear out to begin! Hope I’m the next few days Conte, Paratici, Hitchen, Levy will sit down with the likes Of Dele Doherty, Sanchez, SB, and tell them they haven’t got a future at the club and it’s time for them to find a new club in January
And Winks.

Conte has said as much in his pm presser.

He said he's found a lot of players ready to work hard but sometimes that is not enough.

Think he'll give it 2 windows. We'll need to start this January imo. Difficult window but suspect we'll look to bring in two at the very least. They'll be a number Conte will want to shift. If by the end of the summer window, Conte hasn't got what he wants....Levy ,may well find himself scrambling around looking for his 3rd manager in just over a year.
I agree. Conte is not going to waste his time with us if Levy continues with his penny-pinching ways. He's definitely signalled that today.

I think, and im guilty of it, there has been sentiment and giving players benefit of the doubt. We have an elite manager here and they put on such a performance - basically watershed moment for them - no more sentiment, no more benefit of the doubt. Id fucking let some of them get their own flight home and have their P45 on their doorstep.

Dont wanna see some of them anymore... no more thats it. Time for immediate change and discarding. Enough hoarding.

I can see him walking out before Christmas, as I think he knows he's inherited a bag of shite that is only going one way,,

No way lol. He will have been guaranteed squad changes otherwise he wouldnt have joined. He knows he has inherited a squad that isnt his.

If he got sacked, its the players
Resigns, its levy.

Antonio Conte:

“I am happy to stay here but we have to work a lot to improve the quality of the squad.”

“We need time, work awaits us. At the moment, there is a big gap between Tottenham and the best clubs in England Slovenia.

what's hard to understand?

so much of the blame has been put their way when neither were the primary problem. this squad have been bang average for three years now and they've seen off three good/very good managers in that time.
That’s sacrilege around SC; “Poch has run out of ideas. Jose is a prick and a dinosaur. Mason is in over his head. Nuno is an muppet who doesn’t know what he’s doing. But the players? Only 10%, maybe 20% of the problem. A ‘great’ manager can sort them out.”

Yeah. Not so much. But don’t let that distract from the pervasive narrative about how awful the aforementioned were. Our downfall has mostly been their fault according to many on SC.

And lookee here… dreams come true. We land one of the top 5 managers in the world. A manager most players with an ounce of pride would go out of their way to make a positive impression, even if they had limitations. They’d work their asses off… if they gave a shit.

I just watched the same limp dick incompetence we have witnessed across 3 seasons in various games, under four managers. The common denominator? The players. Majority of this squad are pathetic.

If idiots like Dele, Doherty, Sanchez, Tanguy, Sess, Lucas, Davies, can’t find a way to motivate, even with Conte around, then we have to be ruthless this January and the summer.

And fuck it… I dunno.… how about some of you actually get behind the manager this time, through thick and thin. Believe it or not…it makes a difference.

Any potential January signings just went from a "nice to have" to "immediate priority". I appreciate it's not an easy window and not everyone will be gettable but we need to show Conte we're serious. If nothing else, we need to save our season - we can't have another year in the Conference League.

I think some of our players are the same to be honest.

They see new coach come in and think "Oh he's a great coach, he'll know what to do" Then they forget that they actually need to pay attention, work hard and understand what he's asking of them.

In the first half today when the camera panned to Conte, he looked concerned, no anger or screaming at his players. Do you know why?

Because he knows that these players cannot do what he wants them to do. If they weren't doing what he asked but he knew they had it in them, he'd be screaming at them. But he's seen enough.

He's seen Doherty try trap a football.
He's seen Dele aimlessly jog about.
He's seen Ndombele lack the tactical understanding to get into the right spaces to receive and then move again.
He's seen Sanchez show the attacker inside instead of outside.

This is basic stuff and if you are a supposed elite professional footballer and can't do the basics, a coach isn't going to waste his breath on you.
