Also, last time we lost to them at carrow Road we had bentaleb and Paulinho in the middle and we were managed by tactics Tim.

That's not to say we shouldn't be wary (conte won't let us be complacent) but it's a silly stat to bring up. (Besides being incorrect as we beat them 3-0 away in 2018 - edit 2016)
Well it was kind of intentionally silly.

And Tactics Tim, the manager with the second highest win percentage in Spurs’ premier league history over more than 10 games, just 0.17% behind Conte? You might not like the guy but it’s not like we were complete toilet.

And yeah sorry that stat was wrong, damn my eyes. So 1 win in last 5 visits to Carrow Road. That changes everything

He is so monotone, intense and serious in interviews, has anyone ever seen him crack a joke? Imagine having that every day at training. It would become so sterile and demotivating. We’ve had Mourinho and Conte who are There’s no way Arteta is like that. He just has no personality.

We all relate - but what brings some peace is that if we dont and cant beat Norwich when everything depends on it then we simply dont deserve it. It wouldnt be luck or being unlucky... it just wouldnt be deserving

I dont think our players with our manager letting it go and will do a professional job of getting shit done.

Right enough of this.
I'm negging everything that even hints about fucking it up against Norwich.

I urge all the optimists out there to join me in Neggageddon 2022.

I don't think that is right, the last two times we played at Carrow Road was in 19/20 season when we drew 2-2 in the league (with no Son, Dele up front in a two, and Lo Celso and Ndombele in CM) and the cup loss, where we drew in normal time but lost on pens. In that game, we had Skipp and Winks in a CM 2, Bergwijn, Lo Celso and Lucas playing behind Dele, who was playing as a lone striker, so obviously not our full first team and Lloris didn't play in either game, Gazzaniga played in the league and Vorm in the cup.

The last time we played are Carrow Road prior to that was 15/16 when we beat them 3-0. The time prior to that was a 1-0 loss in 13/14, when we had Tim Sherwood as manager.

Edit: Sorry about piling on, didn't see the other posts.
It’s alright, what happens in this place, why I post once in a blue moon. Let’s focus on one tiny point and take it immensely seriously, while ignoring the entire rest of the post and taking it in the spirit it’s intended. The modern world etc etc.

Let's get the result at Norwich 1st
That right there is the difference between both our fan bases. They were talking about catching Chelsea being all arrogant and cocky and all we want to do is get over the line and beat Norwich.

They are losing their shit over Arteta, but has he really done a bad job?

Did anyone think at the start of the season that they were even in the conversation for top 4? The fact that he pushed it to the final day is in some way an over achievement, surely. But 5th place is par for them.

None of my many gooner friends thought they’d be anywhere near top 4.

It’s not as if they are easily the 4 best side and Champions League was the minimum requirement and they bolloxed it all up? They are where they should be.

On the other hand, not for a moment did I think we’d get champions league after the summer we had and where we were when Nuno left. That we are almost there, is down to Conte

Is the anger that he is not as good as Conte? Well, only 3 or 4 managers in the world are as good as Conte right now.

yes he has imo. only in their current position due to our and united's crazy seasons, helped by admittedly some good performances from their young players but also a lot of luck and playing a lot of teams at the right time (chavs, united, spam). every time he's needed to 'perform' at a high level to be the difference, they've come up short. i wouldn't trust him with a sunday league XI personally.

Like everything it completely depends on how you frame it...
Really young side, middle of a project and new coach moulding the team into his image after getting rid of all the bad personalities in the dressing room. 3 losses at the start of the season and they turn it around to finish narrowly outside top 4 - You could say 5th was a good result.

But on the other hand, this is Arsenal. Similar to Liverpool at the start of Klopps reign there is this expectation of trophies by the fan base (as underserved as it is knowing where they sit on the pyramid).
They've spent £250m, 3 years into this project and have a pretty lousy squad to show for it. Some gems in there I guess, but the heart of that team still needs a rebuild (as shown the last couple of weeks). No European football and cup runs to distract them unlike the rest of the top 6/7, and both ourselves and Man U have made life relatively easy for them in this chase with our own slip ups.
They lost 3 games at the start, but that is most likely a symptom of the problems at the club rather than a reason to think they've overcome any kind of adversity.

So on the whole I'd say they have massively underperformed. Is all of it Arteta's fault? Maybe not, as the board and their recruitment strategy is obviously woeful, but they are moulding the squad to his image as it is his project, so Arteta has to take some blame for that as well.

They aren't even playing decent football. Severe mentality issues and a wafer thin squad.

I think after this many years with him in charge, as a fan, you would expect him to have improved at managing. Sure 5th is on par, but with no Europa and a lot of money spent they rightly expected to be pushing on this season.

The last 2 months have shown that he is not capable of managing the team he has built.

Agree to some extent, but they did get results when needed against Chelsea, Man U and West Ham (helped by huge dollops of luck).

He’s not a top manager, I dont think he can get MORE from their players the way that Klopp and Conte does, but the way they are carrying on, you’d think that that sqhad was comfortably the 4th best in the league and its a travesty that they have missed out.

If you were the size of club that Arsenal are and you see Spurs who historically speaking have had greater revenue streams, have had their stadium in full swing for 17 years, have a larger global fan base and have been more successful in the last 20 years would you be happy seeing that your rival has Conte and you have Arteta, I'd be losing my mind. It'd be like if we appointed somebody like Nuno Espírito Santo and our rivals had managers like Klopp, Pep and Tuchel.

I said to my mate before our game against them, all banter aside I think both clubs have taken a step in the right direction this season regardless of who gets 4th. I still believe when you zoom out that to be the case. Obviously we have vastly improved this season but to be fair to them they have as well compared to last year and they have built a good nucleus of a squad that clearly needs reinforcements and the other aspect of this is that they are an extremely young team both in terms of managerial experience and players, I felt actually the difference in mentality is what I perceived to be our biggest advantage.

However the reality is that whilst yes start of the season they were not expected to get top4, they were given a golden opportunity because Man United imploded and most people thought top4 was a lock in this season for them and the other 3. They also had no europe the entire season and Arteta is in I believe his 3rd season, meanwhile the other team with the quality to take advantage was us and we had a terrible manager to begin with, disillusioned players, our best player wanted to leave desperately, by all standards we were a fucking state and it was already November. So the parameters were there for them to succeed this season and take the 4th spot and kick on.

Instead they have capitulated not once but twice, they were 6 points ahead, a game in hand over us with 12 games to go and lost to Palace, Brighton and Southampton. We then got ahead of them and to their credit they recovered and got some good results vs United/Chelsea admittedly with both those teams being abysmal whilst we suffered some poor form off the back of a doherty injury. So they were 4 points ahead with 3 games to go and once again they have capitulated.

Zoomed out yes, a step in the right direction but those two capitulations are poor from them, honestly the thing that's made me hopeful is their mentality looks like ours pre-poch. Our game with them aside what's lost them (seemingly) top4 is games where they should be far and away favourites, I know that we have lost similar games but we're not 3 seasons into a manager here, we're half a season at best. If I was an Arsenal right now my concern would be why they went into a game against a Newcastle team whose season ended 3 weeks ago and in the build up not once did it feel like anything other than Newcastle getting a result would happen, why are they going into a game with newcastle in these circumstances and not feeling like favourites. That'd by the aspect of this that worries me. As I said in another post, their lack of introspectiveness makes me happy as a rival.

I just don’t want us going into the Norwich game with any kind of playing safe and point will do attitude. Norwich are poor and we should go at them full tilt, high tempo.
