There seems to be a bit of conflicting information regarding this. Some media sources are saying it was him, others are saying he was just a witness and it was one of his entourage which is why he was arrested originally, and now he's just part of the investigation.
Moving this into here from the ITK thread.

On Wednesday 6th April Sussex Police said: “A man in his forties from Brighton who was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault has had his conditional bail extended until Monday 6 June."

This is regarding the other man. I can't seem to find any update as to whether the bail has been extended further, which means it's probably safe to assume that bail wasn't extended. Therefore as of last Monday the other man has no charges against him, the charges for Bissouma were already dropped.

From a police point of view it seems that this is the end of the matter. Makes sense that we're now wrapping this up.

And now i'm in the Bissouma thread i've seen the better update on this from the previous page, so ignore this.

Can I be the first to say, the sexual assault case chat is boring as fuck. Can we not please clog up his thread with this stuff? He hasn't been charged, nobody knows the facts, the club will have done their due dilligence. I don't care what moral highground people want to stand on. Take it somewhere else.

I don't want to keep coming into this thread to see people discussing this case.
'Boring as fuck', 'Moral high ground'...what a wanker.

It's all very relevant and this is EXACTLY the thread to discuss it. If you don't want to see it, turn a blind eye and scroll on.

EDIT: PROUD TO GET MY MOST NEGATIVE RATINGS ON THIS POST. Tells me all you need to know about certain posters. KEEP IT UP, PONDLIFE!!

Feels like we've need someone to press and get the ball park almost since Wanyama started suffering from injury issues.

Fantastic signing if it goes through. Hopefully Winks can be sold to get a good chunk of this £30m back.

If anything this high profile transfer might put the police under more pressure, as it puts the case in the spotlight.

This source does confirm what we already know that bail was extended until the 24th of June. I imagine the investigation will reach conclusion soon enough. Seems a short bail extension

Talk about an overreaction. Nobody knows anything about the case, just that he is a person of interest in a sexual assault case, it doesn't mean he has commited any crime. Signing a player like Bissouma as it stands right now shouldn't make you question what the club stands for. What is the point of discussing something when nobody has the facts? It means it is full of conjecture and hypotheticals.
So what do you suggest? Ignore it completely, focus entirely on the football and all get really excited because he's undoubtably an excellent player? Then what? Discuss the legal/moral/ethical side of things if he does get done for it, when he's already our player and any discussion of whether we should sign him would be pointless because the deal's already been done? Now is exactly the time for these discussions to be happening.

He's had his bail extended numerous times IIRC.

Exactly. There is no harm in discussing the case. The issue is when people can't making things up or saying he is innocent/guility with the limtied information we have. The truth is that anyone at any moment can be accused of a crime, why would you condemn them before any investigation as concluded? Seems utterly bizarre and quite unfair
Who has condemned him? I'm not locking him up and throwing away the key, I'm saying we shouldn't sign him until the police have decided one way or the other whether or not he has a case to answer.

When it comes to criminal investigations, people shouldn't speculate on what any person may or may not have done.

Wanted him, so happy we're getting him. But, I watched some random programme on Sky about 3 months ago - it was a sitdown with Lewis Dunk and Neal Maupay and while they praised Bissouma as being top notch they also said he was far and away the worst trainer in the Brighton squad. Hopefully Conte can improve that side of his commitment and then he'll properly fly!!

The extension is not about Bissouma.

It says the man in his twenties 'has been released under investigation'. Then says Bissouma was previously on police bail.

The words I initially used were probably a bit strong, but the club has clearly done their due dilligence, and as far as we are concerned the case is done and that is the end of it. Nobody in this thread has the slightest clue about the facts of the case. So carry on speculating then....

Nah, this is not it.

Being concerned that a player your club is signing has been involved in a disgusting act against a woman is hardly a 'moral high ground' FFS.

Well it can be because me, you and everyone else doesnt know the details of this case. And if you paid attention, there is a good chance that it wasnt Bissouma.

Thing is now the entire thread is full of shit-slinging and speculation.

I would hope we can all agree that we don't want to sign any convicted sex offenders.

But equally, we don't know what happened beyond the snippets the police have given us.

I would hope that the club know something we don't and are acting on the basis that he's been cleared or the charges have been dropped (hopefully cos he's innocent!). If not, then yes I agree it's fucked up and we shouldn't be signing him.

But again...we simply don't know.

I was making a general point, apologies if that doesn't come across that well (y)
