There is nothing sensible about Lenglet coming in even if it was for free. He won't be an improvement on what we have or not even on a par with what we have. I thought the point in signings was to improve the squad but this one if it were to happen doesn't do that.
There are bound to be far better options out there for LCB.
we not in for him ..is all part of FP spinning plates/:distractions

Thing is, with the idea of Bremer, him and Richarlison/Raphina, there is tons of work to solve that with our HG quota

I'm fine with it, honestly. Hopefully Conte can work wonders, but I don't think we are necessarily screwed if he's absolute dogshit and we have to rely on Davies at least until January. Davies seemed like an obvious choice for an upgrade this summer, but it's not like he was bad for us.

I think it depends on whether we secure someone like Bremer. If we just sign Lenglet for defence, that would be disappointing

Got a feeling this could be our sneaky best signing if it comes off. I did a long breakdown of him earlier in this thread, but man just watching more of him at Sevilla he just looks perfect for that LCB role in a three.

I think removing the burden he has in playing in Barca’s high line of two (usually with poor defensive partners and behind a midfield of actual children and one pensioner) and I think he’ll fly.

Has his form declined due to injuries? Not sure what's happened because he was rated as one of the best left sided centre back in the world when Barca signed him from Sevilla.

No he’s very physically resilient. It is a confidence issue for him. He was playing unbelievable for Sevilla, then came to Barça at the start of their sudden decline. He had a strong first season in 18/19, then the wheels came off in 20/21

As the club form declined, and turmoil was going on behind the scenes, he started going through a poor patch on the pitch and very quickly the fans got on his back. But instead of rallying him, it just drove him to make more uncharacteristic mistakes and he began to play so poorly he got dropped more. Then that knocked his confidence further and the fans turned on him and he was getting pelters from the stands and online, which seems to have just broken him. He was pictured crying in his car after a game last season.

But what he’s not lost is his exceptional ability on the ball, and for the most part his measured defensive approach and ability to read the game. I honestly believe a change in location, to a coach who builds player’s confidence better than anyone, a system which covers his flaws and a fan base that is buoyant right now and he could turn it around. If he does, this was France’s next great CB hope and one of the world’s best defenders 3 years ago. That would be incredible for us.

Gvardiol, Bastoni, Bremer, Ndicka, Badiashile, hell even Torres who I don't rate.

Sure a couple of them might be unattainable but 4 of those players are all gettable. If we sign this guy instead it's depressing as hell as any of the options above would be far superior signings.

This bloke is basically mentally broken and a walking error. I'll get behind him in the stadium if he signs but barring a miracle it will just mean that Davies stays as our main LCB this season.

But its risk free. If he regains confidence we have a very good player, if not we look at Jan or summer with Davies good enough. I really dont think its as bad as people are saying. Its clear Conte wants Bastoni or Gvardiol.

Our 4 in January were reliably listed as them 2, Schlotterbeck & Rudiger.

Better to take a punt on a loan and have more money to strengthen elsewhere, than to buy someone for the sake of it that Conte is not 100% keen on.

I think he comes on a loan with us shelling out on one of those players you mentioned above. He's not going to be the main man to come in and transform our defence, he's going to be a depth signing. This also means we keep some cash back for the forward signings.

He's had 2 shocking seasons but no he isn't. The tactics of playing on the half way line, especially next to an ageing Pique when Lenglet isnt quick himself, absolutely killed him imo.
And Busquests in front of him might be the slowest player in world football!

It's an interesting option for sure but with the money supposedly available to us I'm not sure why we don't just go down the middle for Ndicka at £25m. Quality prospect that ticks all of the boxes at a reasonable price.

That said if it turns out Lenglet was made for LCB then it would be a very smart piece of business. He was definitely being talked about in a similar vein to Laporte when at Sevilla.
