Spotted @Charliesayers3 in the latest 1st team training video.

Joins - Malachi Walcott, Kallum Cesay, Matthew Craig, Harvey White, Kion Etete, Troy Parrot and Jamie Donley in academy players training with the 1st team currently.
Standard at pretty much every club during pre season to include a fair number of academy players.

At just 17.5 it’s amazing how much Jamie Donley looks the part. He really doesn’t look like a kid plucked to make up the numbers. Be great if he gets on the plane.

Not to diminish Scarlett, but I think Donley is the real heir to Kane's throne. He's got that craft to his game that makes him dynamic.

While I find Scarlett while very clinical is a tad bit one dimensional atm making him easier to play against.

I'm no scout and I appreciate Scarlett is very highly rated as a striker.

Does he have the skillset to play as a WF? Who in the modern game is he most similar to in style? I've heard comparisons with Darren Bent and that has left me underwhelmed because that would be very one dimensional

Scarlett is strictly a striker, part of his weakness imo is he's one speed and not that agile.

This comparison might not appeal to you, but Dane reminds me of Troy Deeney. A bull in the china shop type striker, with a strong football brian, and a leader in the changing room. Dane just needs to physically mature so he can make space for himself in the men game.

I prefer a Troy Deeney to a Darren Bent and whilst that may sound nonsensical given the comparative goal scoring records I believe Deeney is far more suited to the modern game as a strong hold up striker who can run rather than a player who will only run off the last defender and not be involved in the play

thats exactly right, deeney for a late bloomer and playing on some dreadful watford sides was a wonderful premier league striker.

Shame only Walcott and Sayers go on tour but squad is currently bloated. Still interesting those 2 do go especially Sayers as we do have 5 senior CB going. No mention at all of Etete. Glad Parrott going as well.

Not to be a shot at Devine and Scarlett but I wonder if the club has demanded them to take time off…?

If I was in their shoes I would be looking to be involved in our preseason at all costs — the reality is it has become one of the few outlets for young players at the big clubs to get a shot at breaking through — and it only happens for a month each year..

I wonder if there is some rule that players need so much time off

We have taken 23 outfield players we only have 2 games. It probably wasn’t worth their while which is why I’m very surprised Sayers has gone.
