Also... there are a number of strange typos/misspellings in those line-ups.

Its Maguire, not Maguir. Its Cesay, not Cesaye. Its Marques not Nasques. Its Jeremie, Not Jeremiah and Marfo, not Marko.
@DJS sort your Enfield breadbins out blud. Can't spell for shit.

Danny Rose? Is that the Danny Rose that used to play for us or is it the other Danny Rose? I just had to Google him !!

Saw this on Twitter just, and it makes quite a lot of sense, but why do the junior sides not play the same setup as the first team, to prepare the players should they step up, make sure they can at least step into a familiar system with familiar demands.

Went tonight and it was quite a depressing night in all honesty.

You’d hope likes of Cesay, Lavinier, Muir, Craig and Robson would grab a game like this by scruff of the neck and show their class having been in an elite environment for a number of years. They really didn’t and all looked underwhelming. Was strange seeing Danny out there effectively taking the minutes of Linton and Mukendi from Williams.

Team obviously looked miles better with Paskotsi, John, Bowden, Santiago and Kion on.

McKnight has Covid and Donley a small injury.

Spotted Pele Arganese-Mcdermott, Archie Chaplin, Han Wilhoft King, Ollie Irow (foot in a protective boot) and Yusuf Akhamrich at Enfield tonight supporting the U21’s. Can assume all part of next years academy intake when Spurs finally announce.

Why are Burnett and Lewis not implementing a 3 at the back for 21s and 18s. Surely it would be beneficial whilst Conte is in charge. Seems a different world at the moment from 1st team and 23s.

What would your theoretical 343 U21 line up look like? Interested as I'm not sure on several players preferred positions.

Surprised Burnett still has a job. Yeah they did ok last season but I’d like our U21 manager to be someone you think is going somewhere in the game and let’s be honest that isn’t Burnett. Surely it’s the perfect gig for Mason. Who weirdly I believe has never actually been head coach for any age at academy level. I know he was for some UYL games but that’s it I think.

Gunter
Paskotsi Walcott Sayers
Cesay Lavinier
Bowden John
Devine Donley Mathurin.

A bit like the first team the fullbacks would be the weakest area. That’s a team that for me could hold its own in the youth champions league this season.

former academy player reuell walters(17) started arsenal's friendly against nurnberg and apparently really impressed. when he was with us it was thought that he'd been released but he's since said that he left and took time out from academy football. he doesn't exactly speak glowingly of his time with us here -

“We did a lot of research and decided that Tottenham would be the best place for my development. I stayed with them for the next four years of my life and they eventually offered me another two-year contract, but this is when I made the biggest decision of my career so far.

"At that time, I was permanently playing with the age group above, but I felt like over the years I’d lost my way with what makes me stand out on a football pitch and I was becoming a player that I didn’t want to be. I wasn’t attacking like I used to, I wasn’t as confident as I used to be, and I wasn’t showing what I thought I was capable of. I felt like being in an academy made me try to play a certain way and I was almost playing within myself.

"In that moment, my dad and I made the decision together that I would take a break from academy football and focus on myself again. That break would last nearly two years and I used almost every moment to challenge and improve myself. It was a really scary and risky decision, but I knew there was more to come from me and that I needed this break.”
unfortunately this seems to be quite a common criticism of our academy but it's something we're looking to address.

Reminds me of the old quote about colleges being places where pebbles go to be polished and diamonds to be dimmed.

That's a really sad one to read, especially if he's now progressing there.

Although I imagine there's a lot of these stories from the academy days of all teams etc...

One thing that seems to have been a problem with our academy is that every time things seem to get rolling, the majority of our "star" coaching staff are pinched, whether it's by the money teams or lower league teams looking to elevate them into more senior roles etc.

Not sure what the solution is there, but clearly we need talented and stable coaching staff at that level to create an environment where kids properly feel part of something in the long run...

Thought Paskotsi looked pretty good in last seasons friendlies, then disappeared...injuries or whatever. Played full back and impressed. Pretty quick as well.

Would you think that any of these lads are going to get anywhere near the first team squad when you look at the bench we are going to have. We had 5 boys on the bench at the end of last season but that was only because there was no one else.
Paskotsi has played quite a few internationals so has experience of proper football.
Rumour has it that Scarlett is off to Boro on loan. Should clinch the Djed Spence deal.
