I'm fascinated by Parrott now showing amazing fitness levels, surely something that Conte appreciates. Gives a great option from the subs bench even if not appreciated as a great footballer.

The only thing I don't like about this is that this was made public. I don't like our business and training methods being out there in the open. It's not some great revelation but this running drill is the top story on the Daily Mail Sport section and on Reddit as well.

I don't think this is beneficial to us, doesn't allow us to control the narrative and stay low key.
did you even bother to watch the session? there was hardly anything particularly special or revelatory about it

"Spurs finish their session with a long run" oh no, Conte's super secret methods exposed!

In terms of attitude sure but I'm not sure great fitness levels are really required that much for the 5 minutes he'll likely get at the end of a match

Cheers, i've had a look and didn't realise it was a subscription for 45 quid. That's a bit steep really for a few pre-season games. I might have to watch it some other way

It is if you only want the pre-season matches but in the subscription you do get a whole season of live home matches for Under 21's and academy matches plus full match replays of PL games .
Expect they will carry on with PL highlights on the main website but probably not the full match replays.

It sends a message to Conte and the coaching staff that he (Parrott) takes his job seriously, and is willing to put the work in to reach the top. I think he speaks well for his future, whether that is at Spurs or elsewhere.

If Parrott was not putting in the work during the off-season, he would not be getting the chance to play in those 5 minutes...

I don't think telling the players to run is some big secret.

It's more about keeping us under the radar, not prick up the ears of all our of our opponents.

I am not sure it's a massive issue but this running drill and training session has created news, I am not sure if it's good or bad. I think it's a bit bad because it raises expectations that we are now this ultra fit team and monsters. Spurs do not cope well with outside expectation as a club.

We also know now who are the fittest and who aren't the best runners, I think it's better to keep that uncertain.

If this was a little fan channel thing where only a few thousand of us saw what happened or we read an Ally Gold tweet I don't think it would be a big deal but its national news.

Huh?!?! This has been Conte's M.O from the start. Literally, every player who has played under him will tell you what he requires to keep up with his system. Everyone knows that his pre-season are brutal and the crazy amount of running Gian piero Ventrone, our fitness coach, puts all the players through.

There's really no "hiding" from this because and your concern about expectations, is why Spurs collective mentality needs to change. We can't hope to be a big club if we're so afraid other teams see us acting and putting in place the foundations to ensure we stay a big club.

He pretty much went straight to pre-season prep right after international duty with Ireland. He was in Mykonos working with a trainer there and it's showing given how well he did on the beep test.

Is there any chance this brutal cardio could have some negative implications for the players? I’ve seen that our fitness coach is nicknamed the ‘marine’ and has been coaching for decades. Are we employing potentially archaic methods or is this what all clubs do these day?. Genuinely wondering.

considering our manager has literally won league titles using these methods, I would hazard a guess that’s it’s perfectly fine.

Thousands turn up to see Spurs arrive in S Korea Not a mention on the bbc website . Liverpool get a few hundred turn up in Thailand and it’s headline news on the bbc sport/ football webpage. Everyday that broadcaster finds a way to make me detest that bureaucratic waste of public money even more.
Mate, I've just watched the longer vid and I take it back, there were a lot more people there than it first appeared! ?

They are young athletes. As long as they get all the hydration and electrolytes they need as well as proper warm down treatments they'll be fine. Do you not think all world class athletes are worked hard? You do the hard miles now so they don't feel hard in the 80th minute of CL league game. I'm sure lots of them all calling Conte all kinds of unrepeatable names right now though ?

Watched most of that replay of that training video...

Some of my takeaways from it , other than that brutal run at the end....

  1. In the pressing routine, players were lacking sharpness - thats normal I guess
  2. Bissouma stood out for me - he was winning the balls time & again...and when he was pressed, got out so easily
  3. Passing wise Bentancur outdid Hojberg today
  4. Kane finishing was meh
  5. Richarlison though- he was finding the net almost every time (with keeper on). I think we are going to be surprised by his finishing this season
