Interesting to see PMS playing lwb
Wouldn't expect to see him there again. He played really passively, passing back every time he got the ball and his touch wasn't great. Also gave the ball away a few times, one leading to a goal chance. I'm not blaming the kid, just pointing out that he's obviously a CM, not a wing back. A loan out is definitely in his future.

One other observation: Gil really needs to work on his finishing. Another one who didn't look ready, though Parrott didn't look amazing either. I think we have to realise the massive step up to the level of the senior pros we have in our side. Look how naturally Bissouma fit in - that's the standard we're at.

Yeh definitely felt like him and Harvey White were just filling in so that everyone else could train in the correct positions.

Nice catch. Do you have a link?

Never mind. Found it. But can't hear a thing? Did you see something different?

That's a little preview at the start. Keep watching and there's a slightly more extended version when they walk out.

Even at that bit at the start you can hear Sonny's part

yeah absolutely. with Perisic there, he'd be standing next to the coaching staff even more than he did.

Is there any chance this brutal cardio could have some negative implications for the players? I’ve seen that our fitness coach is nicknamed the ‘marine’ and has been coaching for decades. Are we employing potentially archaic methods or is this what all clubs do these day?. Genuinely wondering.

It's only archaic if the goal is to punish the players, which isn't the case here. The players need a substantial aerobic base to keep up with Conte's demanding system and the only one way to build that up is high volume aerobic activity.

The players are constantly monitored and will have certain zones and metrics that they'll need to hit and improve on as the pre-season continues. Long story short, this is more challenging than other pre-season schedules but it is not archaic or harmful to the athletes.

Great to see Conte’s dedication to physical perfection coming to the fore - getting us ready to compete toe to toe with the asthma sufferers

He pretty much went straight to pre-season prep right after international duty with Ireland. He was in Mykonos working with a trainer there and it's showing given how well he did on the beep test.
Parrot is busting a gut to get in Our first team squad . That’s the sort of commitment we want.

New training vid out and Paratici and Son walk out together . Can clearly hear Sonny say 'he won the tournament with me' Paratici replys ' yeah , I don't know if he's the one .'

Kim Min Jae talk surely
Wednesday's preseason game is against a K-league XI. They could easily be discussing any from a number of Korean players

Haha.. The poor fucker is rattled. Apparently Conte won titles because he had great players and nothing down to his regime. Mind saying the same about your beloved Klopp and Pep ?

Steve Nicol is so opinionated, sometimes he just can't let it go like a child with a rag doll. Craig Burley's view is so much more measured here. Burley sees the method in the 'madness'. Nicol only sees stretchers and ambulances! It is a bit Talksport style reactionary but quite amusing.

I used to see Craig Burley and Don Hutchinson's punditry a lot when abroad and always liked their levelheadedness. Two guys who'd been there and done it and have a much more thoughtful approach than expected and generally a not too biased view.

the worrying thing is that burley sounds normal compared to Nicol. Nicol is probably still pissed off about getting his arse ran off him in pre season in 83. The game has changed so much from the old days, christ when I played full time we didn’t see a ball for 2 weeks. Now it’s carefully measured by our staff to limit injuries but to get them as fit as possible. I actually like to see how hard they are working, gives me confidence that we can hit the ground running this coming season and let’s be honest if the players are in top shape it’s a good thing. League, cup, champions league, internationals and World Cup all coming up for a lot of our players. They are gonna need to be at the peak of their fitness levels
