Shocked if he goes to Roma. They’re only in EL and is Jose much of a pull anymore?

+ wouldn’t have thought they could afford his wages.

Dybala is an absolutely top top draw player who should be playing in CL no doubt.

Still wish we were in for him as he could cover across the front 3 and is a little magician, one of my very fave players.

Didn't Juve withdraw the offer they had agreed on? If so, I understand him wanting to leave out of principle.
i believe they messed about with the terms first, and juve essentially just did it back.

they also had their offer on the table from inter, but the agent demanded more money, so they scheduled another meeting. inbetween that meeting and the scheduled one, lukaku became available and inter said fuck that

is this the biggest ever player thread in SC history for someone who will never play for Spurs?

I hate this stuff. It’s absolutely meaningless
It's not perfect, but I think it's useful tool.

As an example, the season before last pretty much everyone who watched Brighton would've agreed that they were a good footballing side with shit strikers who were in a bit of a false league position as a result. Xg is basically a simple, numerical way of showing things like that.

It's just a way of showing which teams/players are "running hot" or "running cold" and I think everyone would agree that happens in football.

Ironically it's a much better indicator of a team's success than things like "shots" or "possession" because it tries tries take the context of the game into account but noone has a problem with those.

Napoli offered him higher wages and Champions League but Dybala turned them down for Roma. As reporters like Di Marzio, Fabrizio Romano, César Luis Merlo, etc pointed out, Dybala was especially drawn to Mourinho's project.

I'm wondering if Inter made promises to him and his agent that they then didn't keep?
Two things happened:
1) Dybala was our #1 target and we more or less had an agreement w/Dybala but then the opportunity to sign Lukaku emerged. Thus, Lukaku then became our #1 priority for the forward position.

2) However, as our finances aren't great, the Lukaku signing meant we couldn't sign Dybala until we got rid of all the bad Conte contracts like Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez, etc.

Dybala kept waiting for us but ultimately decided he couldn't wait any longer as there was no indication that we could get rid of the deadweight anytime soon. Lot of upset Inter fans right now and there's talks we might lose Bremer to Juve....

Pretty clear Inter have kept him on a thread (as well as Bremer) and because they have refused to sell anyone their owners won’t sign off on him.

Inter really going all out to become the worst run club in world football. Final to be played vs Barca.

Not too many wanted him. Speaks volumes.

Didnt help his cause he wasn't keen on England or Germany.
Seems very much a case that he turned down a lot of interest early on because he was sold the dream by Inter and strung along for months. Then he was left scrambling last minute. I think he would have moved a lot sooner and possibly even abroad if Inter weren’t involved.

AC Milan turned down the chance to sign him and I'm sure I read Barcelona did aswell.

Barca were his dream club but they have wanted Raphinha since summer and wanted to keep Dembele so were not going to get Dybala as well. AC only got involved after Inter pulled out, they had other targets they were already working on much like everyone else. Inter and his agent really fucked him.

For me, it’s an attempt to “Americanise” the game - the American sports are full of stats which tend to be a lot more meaningful and can be analysed to death. Usually because there is a much stronger correlation between the scores and the stats, and more focus on individual performance rather than team performance. It’s also used to compare performances and predict winners, which once again have a clearer correlation.

I’m yet to be convinced that these stats add much to the football discussion that’s not covered in a much simpler format by “x goals in the last y games” type stats.
