Whilst I think Lenglet is very good on the ball and can be a big success for us, that through ball to Richarlison was not a pin point deliberate pass. He was lifting the ball up the line for Moura. When he looked up to hit it Richarlison was stood still on the other side of the pitch (just). Richarlison made it a good ball by reacting quickly.

There's only one man who knows it was deliberate and his name rhymes with Smenglet.

At the very least though its an out ball where given contes system he will know there's always a runner there.

Even if you think that, look at the way he received the ball. Smooth first touch out of his feet away from the pressuring forward, so he was able to quickly and calmly play that ball downfield. There’s a lot of players who wouldn’t back themselves to open their body up like that and would end up coming inside or taking a loose touch and end up pressured and hacking it out of play. If you watch that video summing up his game you can see that’s consistent throughout his game that his first touch is very smooth which allows him to play those balls. Doesn’t really matter who he was aiming for specifically as what he did do was play it perfectly into a channel that was awkward for Rangers to defend. Just a nice all round bit of play.

Of course. I was just pointing out is was a good ball in behind without picking out a Hoddle’esque ‘on a dime’ into the path of Richarlison as some are making out. It was a good ball that Richarlison made into a great ball by reactively chasing after it.

Yeah I wouldn't want Lengelet to start season with 10 minutes of preseason friendly behind him.

Still not enough to be starting completely inexperienced in this league. Coming off a season where barely played
The completely inexperienced in this league thing has gone a little far. Bentancur and Deki were completely inexperienced and slotted in perfectly and almost instantly. In fact how many players in recent years have we actually brought in with Premier League experience that have done well? Hojbjerg?

Especially with Conte, I think it’s more that you just need to be able to fit his system and know what he expects of you more than experience in the league.

Still find it weird to loan a player for a not insignificant loan fee without a buy option, instead of getting a relatively cheap talent like N'dicka, who's maybe not as good (yet) but at least he'd be OUR player.

The club are willing to wait until next summer for a big centre half (Bastoni, Gvardiol) by all accounts. That’s why we’ve elected for what at this moment is a temporary option.

Unless the alternative was an out of position Sanchez. We're just more shaky with him playing, despite the good few games he had last season.

That's extremely brave bigger clubs are likely to gazump us then.... buy an Ndicka type and develop him.

There’ll be players of that level available next summer though. Why wouldn’t we bide our time and wait for a potential game changer. Liverpool waited for Van Dijk which was one of the key factors in changing them from a top 4 level side to a title winning side.

No one will be second fiddle. I think even Conte mentioned we need 17 or 18 first teamers... both Lenglet and Davies are starters. I like Davies and still think if there was a CL final tomorrow, Davies along with Dier and Romero would be my first choice 11 to start the game.
If there was a CL final tomorrow, Davies would be injured for it so maybe cherry pick a different hypothetical

That's not the same... they bid in August of 2017 I think.... could be wrong on the year.... Southampton refused to do business with them. They then reached agreement midway through December of that year with Southampton. I remember it clearly... I commented in the Liverpool thread at the time..... that their decisiveness smelt of hunger for success.

What we have here is a situation where a few posters have this in their heads that Bastoni or Gvardiol are gettable...... they not ( we have the funds and either would have been signed by now) Many have convinced themselves that Bastoni wants to come to us.... that Inter are piss broke.... That Bastoni dreams of playing for Conte AGAIN.. .. come on... the same Conte who at his last 2 clubs hasn't lasted more than 3 years.
