They've been out of sorts since the end of last season so something really is going on.

I do think that all that chasing and going toe to toe with City is finally catching up with them all.

Their biggest issue is that they don't have the resources City have.

Whilst City can go sign both Rodri and Phillips. They can go sign 4 CBs of high quality for 200m, they can lose Sterling and Jesus and sign Haaland.

They can also sign players and not worry to much of they fail cause they'll just sign another.

Liverpool can't sell Mane and sign a like for like, they have to sign an emerging player and even now they've started to get overcharged (Nunez).

The risk being that this particular player fails and they can't shift them.

Their midfield has needed a big overhaul for 2 years now. They never replaced Wijnaldum or Milner. Thiago was seen as a good capture but he's often injured.

They haven't been able to go out and spend 100m on Bellingham or Tchouameni, or both.

So they are stuck a little.

Before you know it the issues have multiplied and they have more to do than anticipated.

If that happened to City they'd just to and spend another 300m, selling a couple to balance things.

I’m also wondering if Klopp has burnt them out and we’re now seeing the start of the free fall that happened at the end of his Dortmund tenure.

Jesus. The score line was bad enough but watching the highlights of Napoli v Liverpool it looks like 4-1 flattered Liverpool.

I hate Liverpool and think theyre at the end o fthat cycle. VVD is losing it which then exposes the likes of Trent etc. They spent the entire budget on Andy Caroll clone, Diaz is good but Salah looks off it, their midfield first chocie is fine but the squad is not great.

To be honest if we won what they had at the end of our cycle id be ecstatic because I will have experienced it. So yeah.

Bloody ecstatic theyre in this shit.

Meh. Tonight is obviously a bit of a shocker but I’ll wait another month or two before entertaining the idea of a Liverpool demise. Even the top teams ( outwith those playing in diddy leagues where they are clearly the individual or 1 part of a tandem powerhouse ) have rough patches, they key is letting that be a rather temporary matter and not terminally turning into a longer malaise. Yet to see with Liverpool. Salah could start banging them in anytime, players could return from injury in midfield, Nunez could settle etc etc

Looking on interestingly, but nothing further quite yet

Went through arrivals at Los Angeles with a guy wearing a Liverpool shirt in front of me. Just couldn’t resist asking if he knew the CL results?

i hope we learn from this and take the game to Liverpool when we face them. their left side really gave TAA and Elliot a lot to think about.

Reckon there is something in this burn out. Perhaps they are physically OK but just mentally tired ?
