Don't know how or why some of you continue to watch the post match stuff after a gutting defeat like that. Surely it's torture and will only wind you up more?
When spurs are on tv I’ll watch it if they win, if they lose it’s off as soon as final whistle goes

I’m watching American. I imagine it’s not as bad as ITV.

What's Southgate done wrong? He got lambasted for being too defensive with this England side, which we weren't tonight. We took it to France and they took their two chances. This isn't on Southgate and if anything, he deserves the Euros with the likes of Bellingham and Foden etc.

He's too pragmatic for me. Too much passing it sideways and backwards. I'd love to see Poch with this squad, taking it to teams, playing attacking footy. Also having an Argie as England manager would be funny.

So who we pulling for now? Morocco, Croatia? Tough choice but I’d rather not see France repeat or Messi mania explode. I guess that’s better than France but still? *shrugs*

I guess it depends. Lloris for France, Romero for Argentina, Perisic for Croatia or the fairytale with Morocco

For me, Southgate comes out of this tournament with credit. I’ve always thought he was a boring, safety first manager but he’s actually been brave with his team selections (although whether that’s because Phillips was injured and Sterling unavailable, I don’t know). What can’t be questioned though is that he knows how to a real team togetherness and the players seem to love him. He always conducts himself impeccably too. I’ve gone from thinking he drags us down to believing that he needs to stay on for the next tournament.

I thought we were good tonight. Harry we’ll get even more abuse than normal but hopefully he’ll come back stronger for us. I’m staying off Twitter until all the ****s have vented their one-eyed bollocks.

Morocco would be a huge story for the World Cup. Might even spark more coverage in North America. The yanks love fairytales.

no it wasn't. People are just biased. The ref was honestly fine, let the game flow. Same with fouls on mbappe. England got two pens, they can have no complaints
No there were several fouls against England players (saka in particular) that he let go.
he didn’t have a good handle in the game.
The first pen was stonewall and the second wasn’t exactly hard to give and it still went to var.

Agree, the biggest thing England lack is someone to complete a trio with Bellingham and Rice. Henderson is getting old, Phillips is too defensive and I don't think dropping in one of the AMs in an 8 role will work.

What's Bellingham's younger brother like? :p

I don't think we can just hope for a player to turn up though, it's got to be focused development and many options coming through with the best naturally getting to the top. I know the PL is a fairly unique competition (certainly most who work in football agree) in terms of it's intensity and pace/power etc. which shapes it obviously massively, but I look at what other countries have/develop in the centre of the park and feel we are still way off it in terms of what I'd want in there. Tactically and technically very good, game intelligent footballers. Players who can take the ball, the composure to play out of pressure, always make an angle or offer a pass, move in relation to team mates & the ball, agile and with the vision to play 360, when to hold it, when to play it quick, when to make the through pass, when to keep it simple. And all those other facets....

People always bash the team/manager for the Croatia and Italy defeats, there might have been things that they could have done better but ultimately the games I watched we couldn't compete with Modric et al and then Verratti/Jorginho and co. in keeping the ball and controlling the game and it's no coincidence for me the team that did this, in tight games, won. Tonight again (where we were very unlucky), and in many England games where fans call out boring and stale it is, much the same, in tight games where we have to work for it we can't quite build and sustain enough control and final third pressure to make our lives easier and give ourselves a better opportunity to win.

England (I think) want to be a modern possession based footballing outfit and fans say we have a great generation of talent, but it's all basically players in the final third. You need a platform and control of the ball for them to shine though, and we still unfortunately lack it. The jigsaw is not complete.

The ref was definitely not fine.. He was up there with the Argentina v Netherlands ref for worst officiating of the tournament so far.

Gutted, but it always ends this way. Some things never change. France are as tough as it gets on this stage and we ran them close, but close isn’t enough.

I'm no way near as much as an England fan as I am a Spurs fan but I am still a bit gutted. However the ref had a shocking game, I know there is a lot of pressure on them but wow, I think the England players till well to keep their temper tbh.
