But the inevitability of disappointment was at least smothered a bit under Poch and Redknapp; this is like Chinese water torture where it's the painful AND predictable. Actually, it's more like Chinese water torture where someone explains it's really smart after every fucking drip.
That's the problem though - I do agree that better football would make it easier to swallow but do you not feel like it's a sad indictment that basically, we'd just settle for the better football? We were there a few years ago - "good old Spurs who play lovely football but never win anything" so if we can just get back to that, people would be able to live with that.

As Brighton or Bournemouth or Fulham I'd be ok with that but everything is set up for Spurs to be a lot more than that - off the pitch but we're like the great pretenders. Ultimately we're achieving no more of any note from a fan point of view than under Alan Sugar - unless top 4 is a trophy. Top 4 should be a springboard, not the winning post.

This will be described by the media as an upset and a shock exit. I wasn’t shocked, we do this every year.
Ive been a life long Spurs fan 1981/1982 then 1984, 1991, 1999 then 2008. Got into champions league saw us undefeated at the lane. Thought we were going to be with the elite when the new stadium was built with the new training ground what beauty. Thats where it all ends they have no thought of ambition on the field at our football club that is fact. Levy just gave himself 1/2 mil pay rise then 15 year contract with formula 1 yet only one trophy in 22 years from this Highway man of an organisation. They are robbing us fans of every penny we have!! I will not attend another game while this regime is in charge because they are taking the complete piss out of us. Ive been everywhere with Spurs no more. And the quicker you happy clappers that will say shut up you fool!! 1 in 22 who is the fool if you want to bring our club back to glory you will have to draw a line in the sand and stand up against this disgusting regime in charge of our football club!! All the best everyone and take care!!!

If conte wasn't committed you would think he would insist on playing strongest team in cup and not care about 4th as he won't be hear next

If he was committed, he'd play his strongest team every game, given our lack of success in the trophy dept

Before they scored the winner he was already having a mare, one time he totally fucked up and I immediately knew he was done. He’d got so bad thee was no coming back into the game
When things are so bad your legs just buckle under you while standing still, well I think its time to be subbed.

The hardest thing to do is rotate the team throughout the season and not play 9/10/11 players 100% of the time when fit then bring in the fringe fir a run out once a month.

It doesn't work.

Alot of our players and they've done so for years definitely believe they can rock up to games and coast through them and think we'll win.

Defence let in one goal, attack scored zero. Surely the attack have a lot of blame here

I have two pieces of memorabilia hanging from my office walls at home that I am very proud of.

One is the white FA CUP shirt of 81 signed by Ossis and Ricky. The other is the yellow 82 FA Cup shirt signed by Glenn Hoddle , with pictures of them celebrating with the trophy in hand.

What a shame that I will never likely have similar signed framed shirts of the likes of Kane, Son and Loris with a trophy in hand.

Culture culture culture and culture - every organisation from a global bank to a football club has a culture and a DNA. It takes a long time to change and evolve , but this is what is necessary for the club to move forward. Our culture and DNA has evolved over 20 years under ENIC and wont change until they leave

Yeah but if you want to talk about culture then those players you mention like Kane, Son, and Lloris are the long serving senior star pro's. When over many years the squad displays such a shitty attitude for the cup competitions then these "leaders" have to be questioned themselves. Ability might be sometimes the problem, but more often it seems we're half-arsed for the cups and can't be bothered to give our all. If that's the mindset that permeates throughout the squad then a) what are your dressing room leaders doing about it and worse b) they're surely some of the problem themselves for it being like that!

We've seen so many of these "nothing" performances over the years in the cups and especially the Europa League.

Definitely the case, and as I've just been saying that's not just the obvious whipping boys it's right at the top, the star names as well.

Too many changes IMO. I didn’t mind Harry getting a rest tonight but also resting Romero, Kulu, Skipp, Lenglet from the weekend team was just too much.

drop in quality is plain to see.

I’m sure those quotes are just copied and pasted each season when we go out of a cup.

Weak mentality. How do they live through Mourinho and Conte and not sort that?
