I doubt that’s how it works at any club. In our case though we’d end up with a coach like gattuso if we left it to partici!!DoF gets the final say. If you employ him correctly, it should be his responsibility.

Irrelevant what happened at Chelsea though isn't it because we are desperate for a CB. We've been desperate since the breakup of Toby and Jan yet despite being linked with numerous top class one's over the years, at varying stages of their development, from Kim to Skrniar, we've only managed to sign one good one, one called Rodon and one on loan.He said exactly the same “I didn’t get enough” at Chelsea. No player would’ve been enough.
But you can't blame not getting in your first choice CB for the drivel we've seen, served up week-in; week-out for the most parts this season? If you can't see that not getting in at least one good centre back has led to us conceding more goals and stopped us playing out from the back more confidently then there's no helping you is there.
Question, did Conte want a CB?
Answer, yes.
Verdict, we got (1!) temporary solution, we didn't back him as well as we could've and as a result we've conceded a lot of goals this year.

Having a mutation of Rio-Franz Maldini couldn't paper over the cracks we see (regularly) from back-to-front.
Wasn't Conte lauding Dier early part of the season for having the potential to be "world class"? Imagine Dier playing next to a World Cup winning CB and in front of a World Cup winning GK, oh wait...
Yes - A first choice CB would have made a difference.
No - it wouldn't have changed that much.
We've looked horrible this season, plain and simple.
Not really, cos if you’re arguing you don’t have enough money at Chelsea and then you’re saying the same five years later at a different club it suggests a pattern.Irrelevant what happened at Chelsea though isn't it because we are desperate for a CB. So none of the responsibility for the FA Cup defeat is on the players? Not really, cos if you’re arguing you don’t have enough money at Chelsea and then you’re saying the same five years later at a different club it suggests a pattern.
We didn’t go out of the FA Cup and the CL the same week because he didn’t get a centre back, put it that way.
The same manager you wanted backing to sign a brand new, shiny, (likely to be expensive) CB, is the same manager you doubt over being able to identify the correct player(s).Nobody thinks Dier can be a world class player at this stage of his career, no matter what they say in public.
I agree the performances were poor and there's not much point talking about the downfall of Conte's time, but, it's impossible to say he was fully backed when you look at our CB options.

Make it, make sense...
*Grim reading*
Great advice. *goes straight back to Conte threadPeople need to relax now, because if they don’t they’re in for a very long unpleasant rollercoaster.
Usually when people on here utter the words “don’t do it to yourself” it’s discouraging people from getting their hopes up. Well I’m saying it now with kind of the opposite in mind. Stressing about this isn’t going to make it happen any quicker, doom scrolling/posting in here and the Conte thread isn’t going to do you any favours either.
We’re all guilty of it, me included. But if this ends up anything like the Nuno summer it’ll all get very toxic if we all start climbing the walls in March.
Everyone just needs to chill, the season is a write off now, and Stellini gets a free hit. Let’s just all try and enjoy football again without the pressure.
What's the point in being good at spotting players if you can't find a manager to make them more than the some of their parts? Paratici has to go. The guy is a grifter who's just another in the long list of examples of Levy's awful football-related judgement. He’s seemingly really good at everything else though, so would prefer not to sack him. Agreed he’s utter guff at appointing managers though.
I think there is a touch of the Harry Redknapp's about Conte. They both always want more players no matter how many they already have. The difference between them is Conte is a winner whilst Harry wasn't. Conte though needs specific types of players to be a winner but we were never prepared to get him those players so a parting of the ways was inevitable. He said exactly the same “I didn’t get enough” at Chelsea. No player would’ve been enough.
My thinking is that Gallardo would be the better appointment, but Nagelsmann is the kind of appointment we're more likely to make - and I'm fine with either.I just find it encouraging that re Trix’s post last night that some of the board want Gallardo. I honestly still think he’s our best option. Not that I’d be unhappy with JN but still I’d prefer Gallardo.
But then he did say it would take more than 2 or 3 windows.Yeah but again him saying OK to certain players(and I believe it was more than just Spence) is not the same as getting him who or what he asks for.
But patently, the season isn't a write off as we currently reside in 4th spot and if don't secure a successor in the interim then the spectrum could be quite vast;People need to relax now, because if they don’t they’re in for a very long unpleasant rollercoaster.

How would you describe Diers form since? No you're right, would've been better if he'd said Dier wasn't fit to lace Maldini's boots. That would've inspired him.
He did what he had to do to get the best out of the players he had, sometimes that was to praise them, sometimes it was to criticise them.
