Very much how I feel too mate. 👍
It smacks once again of know-nothing members of the board who haven't learned a damn thing over the past appointments.

Really don't want to be going off a tangent once again on the direction from the top down but honestly, all our fundamental problems lead there and not in the dugout.

I dont want poch to 'enjoy us playing football', I want to win so we need a winning manager. Poch is perfect for ENICs comfortability, avoid at all costs

Sorry but who should have the final say then ?
DoF and Chairman. But all this talk of board members liking/not liking X or Y is nonsense. Most of the board members should have no say in it whatsoever. What gives a Finance Director for example any right to opine on football matters?

why should the Chairman either? he isn’t an ex player or coach. Ideally you have a sporting director with a clear vision of how the club should play football like Edu at Arsenal.

The board have no vision and Paratici has a scattergun approach to managers. So there is nobody with long term vision at the top it would appear unlike our rivals who have clear plans and competence.

I find it extremely hard to believe that Conte didn’t give the nod to the all of the signings. Maybe apart from Spence as he’s more a club investment.

This narrative is really winding me up now, I am supposed to sit here and think that a coach that has signings like Bissouma, Bentancaur, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Porro, Udogie purchased for him hasn't been backed??

Because he was not willing to sign up for longer to see the jigsaw completed is the clubs fault??

Go and do one.

No they don't, but he is and has always been a my way or the highway manager. We all knew this, the whole footballing world knew this, and Levy should have also known this. To hire a manager you know needs specific pieces of the puzzle and not give him those pieces is straight up negligence, be it by appointing him in the first place if you aren't going to give him those pieces, or to expect a man like Conte to change.

its Jose all over again, in even less time. Absolute negligence.
Sick to the back teeth of their incompetence with anything related to on-field matters.

In terms of the target now.. as long as they play positive front foot football and want to dominate the opposition rather than react to them I will be happy. Not fussed by the name as big names have never worked as well as up and coming managers with a point to prove for us anyway.

If it is anyone who sets up to counter I am done with football until Levy is gone.

We've had a go with a DoF a few times, but imo we've never really got it right or implemented it correctly.

The DoF is the buffer between club and playing/non playing staff.

In theory; the club appoint a DoF who shares the clubs philosophy and vision. The DoF then sources a manager who is capable of coaching a team to play in a way befitting of the clubs vision. The DoF along with the coaching/recruitment team then scout/sign players to fit this model.

It would appear to me (the lay-person), that the DoF position at Spurs is a passive, advisory role which holds very little authority.

Now compare Khan at Bayern, or even Edu at Arsenal. They seem to be at the front & centre of everything, be that recruitment, contract renewals or helping identify new mangers.

What if the dof & chairman don’t agree? Would surprise me if paratici want a pragmatic coach who is happy working under him but levy want a big name who plays attacking football to appease the fans (poch probably high on his list) Then you could add in Vivienne who might have a different opinion again, perhaps championing the progressive up & coming project manager (Maybe even gallardo since JL lives in Argentina.)

DoF gets the final say. If you employ him correctly, it should be his responsibility.

If you can't see that not getting in at least one good centre back has led to us conceding more goals and stopped us playing out from the back more confidently then there's no helping you is there.

Question, did Conte want a CB?

Answer, yes.

Verdict, we got (1!) temporary solution, we didn't back him as well as we could've and as a result we've conceded a lot of goals this year.

He said exactly the same “I didn’t get enough” at Chelsea. No player would’ve been enough.

I just find it encouraging that re Trix’s post last night that some of the board want Gallardo. I honestly still think he’s our best option. Not that I’d be unhappy with JN but still I’d prefer Gallardo.
I still get the impression that their mind changes daily.

I fear if we don't secure Nagelsmann's signature then it's back to a scattergun approach with delay and procrastination as no one candidate is preferred and we waste the summer months.
