Big gaps all over the defence for those goals. Fair enough we ran out of steam and their subs were next level... But we're still lacking the basics. Which is a shame because Sanchez was saving us most of the night.

Much better than I expected.... especially with the squad today against a full strength Barca-team away.... of course a couple of mistakes and tired legs at the end... but we were brave and spirited. Played some lovely stuff as well... Happy !

Bring on the new season. COYS

Score line flattered them. We didn’t deserve to lose that game.
I think the issue is that these “against the run of play” goals seem to be a feature, not a bug, or the defensive system.

One wrong move or missed tackle and we’re absolutely wide open.

Undoubtedly a game of positives far outweighing the negatives.

Work in progress for sure - especially defensively - but there's more than just hints at what the future could yield under Ange.

Dier though proving once again he's not only not adequate enough in a back 4 but in Ange's system too?! Should be out the door.

The problem with dier is he lacks that defensive instinct and aggression. The third goal was shocking from him, just showed zero awareness for the threat.
agree on the 3rd. the 4th happened so soon after the third it was hard to tell if folks were criticizing him for the 3rd or the 4th.

Spence is a disgrace! Gave up tracking for Barca third when he lost possession up field and where was he for the fourth goal???
I know he was out of position, but after watching that i'm convinced he's gone. Night and day compared to 34 year old Perisic chasing around after stuff.

Great work out, and played some really good stuff. Been a few years since we’ve seen that. Not bad for the ‘B’ team.

Clear to see from that second string side who we should keep and most definitely those that should be told to go.

Under how many managers has Dier disappointed under, please do not give him yet another chance. Also, Reggie, I’m sure nice lad and all but not good enough.

Stand out performances from Biss, Perisic, Skippy and Lo Celso. Those four from today show that they totally get what Ange wants from them.

Other than Reggie, Dier, and Spence, I thought the players did well. Solomon probably could have offered more.

That was a very good performance for the second team and some players that have zero confidence following the last few seasons. Hopefully, we can see some players stepping back up again.

Barca's subs just ruined us with the pace and directness

Fantastic going forward, but we can't play that attacking with current players. Need another CB, LB as minimum. Players are still learning the game plan but dier, regi, tanganga probably sancez (played well tonight) have to go. Rooney does not seem fancied either

It is painful to see how much Reguilon has regressed.
I didnt think that much of him in his first season. Some people were having orgasms from the few things he did to attack but it was obvious he could not defend. Overated from the start till he was found out

I know it's only pre-season etc, but It's a little worrying how easy it's been to get in behind us in all the games.
Agreed. Not desperately concerned, but that looks like the weak spot for Anges approach. Not surprising, I suppose, hope he has a solution…

Really enjoyed that! For once I couldn’t take my eye off the game.
Played some really good football despite playing with 10 men (Richarlison was MIA)

Thought Reggie played well until about 75 mins in, he's not played that much football recently and looked exhausted.

Meh about the result, really really decent showing from our B and C team players.
Echo this mate. I don't care less about the result, but this was a great watch and a decent tune-up game for our B team.

We all knew our defence was a shambles and would be exposed by the high line, but give Ange time to coach them and for the likes of VDV to bed in and we'll be scoring a lot more goals then we concede.

Lots of positives to take.

Enjoyed that overall. So many positives, we know about the negatives. Only concern for me with the new boys is I don't really see it with Solomon, doesn't seem to have much in the way of creativity or end product, all a bit predictable. Particularly from the right where be looks a fish out of water. Definitely think we need another wide forward option to play this system effectively.
