People get on Ndombele’s back re his price tag, Richarlison is in danger of being one of the most expensive flops in our history. Really hoping he can find some form when fit and gain some confidence

Agree but the difference with Richarlison is he still retains significant value being a hard-working professional with a decent track record for his country.

Seems like a really nice guy and he clearly puts in a shift when on the pitch. He's always chasing down players and that is a big plus in this system. But I must say tho that in general I personally never particularly rated him as a CF and was pretty disappointed when we got him. That being said I don't see how one can blame him for last night, he's obviously going to be lacking match sharpness. The header aside I don't think he really had any service at all. Yes we should probably look to replace him but I think our issues up front are far wider then the striker department.

Sell him whilst he’s still Brazil’s number 9 and has value. Like others have said sometimes players just don’t work out through no fault of their own.

I've never understood him as a signing. 60 odd million for a backup striker? He's quite poor on the left, and does absolutely nothing on the right. He'll score a few goals as a 9 but he's always been a fairly limited player. For ages people have defended him by saying he's Brazil's number 9...it means nothing. I wish people would judge him by what they see rather than some vague notion of what they hope a Brazilian striker should be. Brazil don't need him to do much other than press with intensity and score the chances others will create (which he's never actually done that well). We can't carry players like that.

I agree. I wanted it to work out for him but he strikes me as a confidence player and would benefit from being in a team where he makes a good start and is the main man.

He wouldn’t be the first player who has struggled to make the step up from a lower/mid table club to a club which has higher aspirations. We’ve signed plenty of those over the years and they’ve gone on to have decent careers elsewhere. But I find it difficult to see things ever working out for him here.

Some value "being right" for internet points over being wrong about a player who hits some form.
Not with Richy. Others don't have it and have shown that over 4 years. Richy just hadn't done it for us yet. Definitely a tryer and you have to respect that. Pre op form I'd have sold him but if this is him post op I'm all for it!

Thread'd probably be getting lots more posts if he'd struggled so I'll give him the props he deserves. Really good today and his work rate is exemplary. Newcastle were ragged but his intensity exposed that even more, and he took his goals well. Made up for him.

So pleased for him. Two goals, worked his arse off all over the pitch and showed a lot of determination and skill. Let's hope this surgery has sorted whatever injury he was playing with because he can be the main focal point for us.
