TEAM FORM
Spurs - DWWWL -------- Newcastle- DWWDW

We will aim to consign our midweek endeavours to history when we return to North London to face New Castle in Sunday's Premier League clash. We were put to the sword 2-0 Man Utd on Wednesday, while Newcastle's men ran out 1-0 winners over Everton.

Conte emphatically ruled out any hopes of us competing for the Premier League title after our at Old Trafford, as Man United put in one of their best performances of the season while we put in one of their worst.

Lloris was our saviour in the first half as he single-handedly kept Man United at bay, but there was nothing that he could do about Fred's deflected goal and Bruno's sublime curler in the second half, as the we missed the chance to leapfrog Manchester City into second.

The Conte mind games did not pay dividends at Old Trafford, as he frequently voiced his desire to continue with a 3-4-3 formation in his pre-game press conference before setting his side up in a 3-5-2, but offered little in the way of attacking incisiveness.

We remain four points adrift of leaders Arsenal following their midweek defeat and could fall seven behind them if results do not go our way this weekend, but the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been incredibly kind to us this term.

Indeed, we have won all seven of our home matches in all competitions this season - scoring 20 goals in the process - and we are also on an eight-game Premier League winning streak at our Stadium, but Newcastle will travel south feeling confident of breaking that streak.

But two things went in favour for us over the weekend where the league positions are concern so far are Chelsea and Man Utd drawing and Forest beating Liverpool.

If Fernandes's goal for Man United against us was something special, Almiron's effort for Newcastle against Everton was even more so, as the Paraguayan attacker scored the only goal of the game to propel the Magpies to victory on Wednesday night.

Midfield maestro Guimaraes turned provider for Almiron to lift a gorgeous curling effort over the head of Pickford into the far corner, and fans are dreaming the European dream as Eddie Howe's side hit a rich vein of form.

After struggling for wins in the opening weeks of the season, Newcastle have taken 10 points from 12 on offer this month to storm to sixth place in the table - two points clear of Liverpool and two adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea, albeit having played a game more than both clubs.

The Magpies also arrive in North London with a six-game unbeaten run to try to preserve, during which time they have only conceded a total of three goals, but only one of their five away games in the top flight this season has ended in victory.

The Newcastle takeover was made official just before we arrived at St James' Park last autumn, but we spoiled the Tyneside party with a 3-2 win before triumphing 5-1 at home in April, although the current signs do not point towards another goal-laden performance from us.

Team News

The Hotspur Way treatment room is currently occupied by Richarlison and Kulusevski, whose absences led to us deploying a 3-5-2 system on Wednesday, and both will miss out here.

Kulusevski is also facing a race against time to be fit before the World Cup, but Conte should be tempted to revert to a 3-4-3 with different personnel after hinting that Perisic play in a more advanced role earlier this week. Moura's minutes are still being carefully managed after his tendon injury. Royal has served his three-game domestic suspension and could now come in for Doherty, while a well-rested Lenglet could also displace Davies in the back three.

Meanwhile, Newcastle midfielder Joelinton was taken off at half time against Everton after taking a knock to the knee, and the extent of his injury remains unclear, so ex-Arsenal man Willcock should come in for a start to a frosty North London reception.

Krafth,Ritchie, Saint- Mazimin, Darlow and Isak will not make the trip to the capital either, but Howe should keep changes to a minimum either way.

Ex-Tottenham man Trippier arrives back in North London having created 26 chances in the Premier League this term - the most of any defender in the division - and should line up in an unchanged Magpies backline.
