I think a big plus of keeping him will be him helping Bergvall to settle. I reckon the club will think that too. I also think Ange absolutely loves his mentality and engine. Plus who is realistically going to buy him for 50 mil? I know he’s still young but honestly watching him atm i really don’t think he’s a 50 mil player. I’m sure clubs would be interested if we put him on the market but probably not at the price we would want. I reckon he will be given another season before we start considering his future.
Oh I do agree, would be a very limited pool of clubs capable but doesn't disguise the fact that he is currently a 'square peg in a round hole' and I guess coupled on the back the Swiss Ramble financial breakdown of how poor we are at selling player on for a profit that this is one that might make sense for all parties to move him on if a sufficient bid comes in.

Issues with Toney aside, is he a good fit for Ange's style of football?

Suppose he's fairly fast, good finisher, Ariel threat and can link play so he probably is tbh although he's what 28 and would cost £100mil so can't see that happening at all but on paper and is attitude and gambling issues aside he probably is a very good fit profile of striker.

What about Isak from Newcastle or Giminez from Feyernoord?

Id love Isak, but that just isnt happening. Newcastle are ambitious under their new owership.

Giminez Ive seen none of, just always iffy about the Dutch league.

Toney's age will probably put a spanner in the works in terms of price , but he's in his prime and is exactly what we need.

To be honest, Bergvall looks ideal to be groomed as understudy to Maddison making Kulusevski's position even more redundant whilst alleviating us allocating a big wedge of our transfer funds but this is on the assumption that management deem him ready to contribute straight from the get-go next season and not look to loan him out.

As for the Eze vs MGW debate, Eze represents the superior player for me but will also command the higher fee - much will depend on Forest's ability (or not) to stay in the league you feel as the vultures will be circling.
Bergvall looks like an 8 to me rather than a 10.

Agree on the rest

Will depend on how we coach him in our system but you look to how Bellingham has developed from a B2B 8 into a hybrid 10 and I see similarities in Bergvall's skillset and physical makeup that can hopefully be replicated.

All very good theoretically but you are effectively reducing Son to a bit part player next season and i'm not sure that's going to be the mindset of Ange right now although I will caveat that we do ultimately need to look at succession planning.

Yea so a young forward is best sp that he will be happy to rotate for the first season

And I think we could get a clear run at getting him if we wanted toney

@Now it's Spursonal looks like Calafiori might be on his way to Juve It’s also looking very likely Motta will be the new Juve coach. I fully expect a big turn around come summer. Recently they announced a 200 mil capital gains increase, their 3rd in 4 years, and they got into the new Club World Cup which seems to have big financial benefits. They are still in a very precarious position but I have a feeling they will still gamble in the upcoming market because of this.

By all accounts Koopmeiners and Calafiori are their top 2 targets and have already begun work on getting them. They also really want Zirkzee. As you can see they are on the verge of completing Anderson which likely means as expected Soulé will be off, Kean and Millik will probably go as well if they can find an interested buyer. They are also apparently open to selling Huijsen and if so we should be monitoring that situation. I expect Vlahovic to renew whilst Chiesa’s renewal looks more likely now but still seem to be up in air somewhat.

They will still need to raise funds from sales for those transfers however as all of them will be expensive. Utd are sniffing around Bremer and I think they will let him go for a healthy fee but even after that they will still look to unload more.

Yeah it seems Giuntolli is hell bent on destroying my transfer ideas:cry:

Its seems he has Juve going in very strongly for Koopmeiners, Calafiori and Lewis Ferguson as well. All three would've been my top targets for their respective positions.

I will say though that if they bring in Motta and Zirkzee that it would likely mean that they are looking to move on from Vlahovic, which should certainly pique our interest.

However there's still very strong links to Conte taking over, and if that's the case then there's no way will he leave Vlahovic go. But he would certainly be more likely to leave the likes of Soule, Huijsen or maybe even Yildiz to move on.

Juventus is definitely a club we should be paying very close attention to this summer anyway @FabioParatici

I thought he was really quite poor against us on Sunday, not surprised he got hooked early, and statistically speaking he isn’t particularly remarkable, see below, but he has put in some impressive displays, has decent G/A numbers (4 goals and 7 assist in 31 games) and one has to take into consideration the team he plays for. I’m sure he will 100% be on the list as he is HG and NF look to have some financial issues but he wouldn’t necessarily be my first choice personally. You are right tho I’m sure we will be looking at players like MGW, Gudmundsson, Olmo etc, that sort of versatile forward.

Johnson’s stats were similarly terrible (if not worse) so maybe it’s a product of being at Forest. Still, if we’re looking to mount a challenge we need players who won’t necessarily take more than half a season to get up to speed.

Bit random but i would love us to take a punt on Harrison Burrows @ Peterborough, 11 goals from Left back this season, plenty of assists, but can also play further forward. Home grown and plenty of potential. Seen a lot of him over the years as go to a lot of Peterborough home games.

For sure that probably plays a part, that’s why I mentioned that one has to take into consideration the team he plays for in the post you quoted. Like Johnson he would hopefully raise his game in a better team although i don’t think it’s an exact science and we should be careful not to assume that just because Johnson is stepping up so to will MGW. Also MGW is 24 and Johnson is 22, if MGW was two years younger I’d probably be more excited by the prospect. That’s not to say I don’t rate him or completely against the idea he just wouldn’t necessarily be at the top of my list.

I agree with your second point. Fact is Gio is actually a very good AM for this system. I know some have an issue with him but he has been extremely effective when he’s played this season and that is back up by the stats. Ultimately tho I understand it comes down to a fitness thing but I think if we are going to replace such an effective player then we should be looking for someone equally effective if not more so. Olmo and Eze are the level of player we should be looking at imo, problem is Olmo is injury prone and Eze will cost 70 mil if not more most likely.

Decent player, but has an error in him, left sided defender, but right footed. West Ham fan . I've met him a couple of times and he's a lovely fella. Edwards & Burrows will not be playing in League one next season regardless of Peterborough's promotion push IMO.

I remember us being linked to him awhile back so was interested in how he'd progressed, thanks.

You've contradicted yourself a bit with the part in bold though.

I like him, but i think he would probably better off joining someone like Palace to start with and getting more game time at a higher level. Very highly rated in the younger England set ups, good on the ball and playing out.

This thread is for players you think would be good additions etc, exactly the same as the previous incarnations of this thread.

We have a forum for Transfers, use it for discussion of that please, this isn't the place. If you see a (credible) link, we've also supplied a thread in the Transfer section for requests for player threads. So none of that "I Didn't know where to post this" bollocks. You're well catered for but you need to play the game :woot:

Let's see how we get on ;)
This is the last time i'll re-post this. Thanks
