Can't say I was an avid Celtic watcher during the Ange days, but he was one of their best players whenever I caught some of their matches.

Why wouldn't we just sign him then? If that's the case surely Ange would know that and we wouldn't be interested in Gallagher.
Anyway it's hard to compare the ability of someone playing for Celtic vs playing in the premier league.

£75mil minus tax liabilities since it's not a player sale likely won't clear them completely plus even at break even they're still not running in the black for sustainability levels so his fee incoming or double or more of his wages on the other may still push the sale.
They may also think they don't need him anyway if they've got Palmer.

Their strongest XI includes both Gallagher & Palmer, and they each offer something slightly different, so I don't understand this comment. It's like saying we don't need Bentancur because we have Maddison.

We don't know that they need to get Gallagher off the books though. It's one simple solution to their financial situation, which has been repeatedly speculated on by the media, but that doesn't mean it's the course they'll take.
Chelsea was reportedly needing to sell Gallagher, or to make equivalent profit on player sales, by 30th June 2024. Chelsea is now claiming they are in line with Profit & Sustainability limits up to the end of this year, due to the very questionable £76m sale of two hotels to their owners (with the club continuing to retain the operating revenue/profits of both hotels). Let's wait to see what the PL makes of this...the significant delay in the PL approving the transaction must be concerning to Chelsea - more on this.
There's also profit to be made on other less key academy products. For example:
Hall's loan to Newcastle will become permanent in the summer, bringing in ~£30m profit.
Maatsen, who has started every game for Dortmund since joining them on loan in January, could also bring in ~£25-30m.
Broja, currently on loan at Fulham, would probably be ~£15m.
Chalobah is probably only a rotation player (hard to judge due to injuries this season).

But if they keep him it won't be on current terms, he's going to need a new contract and they'll have to double his wages at least.

In his defence, a lot of what he brings is off the ball and helps bring balance.
Having sad that, don't help Chelsea out, there's plenty of players that fot his mould and are better.
And if we are concerned about HG, we should have been all.over Wharton and there's others that could be better choices
