Was excellent against Frosinone last weekend. Completely shut down their attack and bagged a goal. In general hes been very good all season Very solid, hard working well built player that goes about his work quietly. One of those players you don't necessarily notice as his isn't flashy but you feel his absence when he's not on the pitch. He's up there with the best in the league for his position for a lot of defensive stats like ground duels, tackles, ball recoveries and interceptions. Plays ether as a B2B CM or DM. Can see why we would be interested.

Does he compare to Douglas Luiz mate? If so he sounds ideal. Or is he more of an attacking player?

H88 confirmed before that this is a lad we have been tracking. Surprised there wasn't a thread already for him.
If we get Nusa then hard to see us having cash for another first team signing this window but hopefully wrong

I watched him play was impressed in a game a while back

Would surely be dependent on securing a permanent transfer for PEH.

Napoli will need to stump up the readies as a loan I feel won't suffice if we want to bring in Ederson.

Probably one we set up to push the button should Hojbjerg go

I’ve been pretty impressed with this guy when I’ve seen him play. Good burst of pace, defensively solid, decent on the ball (nowhere near Bissouma/Bentancur level though) and he is very positive with his first touch and see’s then plays a lot of early progressive passes forward. I’d be pretty happy if we signed him, I think he’d suit our system and the PL. Would be a very very useful squad player and an upgrade on PEH for certain.

Kind of feels a bit like the keeper search in that I'm sure this one will be cheaper than the Premier league one. Gallagher like Raya twice as much but homegrown, Ederson like Vicario the better value option you would think.

He isn't really attacking although he does have 5 goals this season as he does get into the box from time to time but he is more of a reserved player. His passing isn't adventures but he will try the occasional through ball, quite a few side to side passes, but he does hold on to the ball well and can dribble. Not like Bentancur but more that he will push the ball past players and use his strong physicality. Not that he has bad technique tho. He rarely looses the ball. He is a very physically solid CM that has very good positioning and defensive awareness. 100% can see why Ange would like him. He's a vital part of Atalanta's team.

The YouTube video I watched was so hard to gauge. Pressing clearly hasn't been invented in Serie A yet - he had so much time and space it was ridiculous.

Youtube vids are really hard to judge. This one is a bit old but i always feel like the ones from a single match give a better outline of a player

Newcastle have been the club most strongly linked to this guy over the last few days.

Interestingly (perhaps the two are linked), Joelinton is reported to have stalled on talks to sign a new contract so Newcastle might be prepared to cash in as he only has 18 months left on his deal. I think he’s got a long term injury so will probably happen in the summer, but I’d be all over that personally and he seems to fit the mould of the hard-running, all action B2B player that Ange is looking for.

Can Newcastle even afford to buy anyone? They pulled out of the Phillips deal because they couldn't swing it financially even if they sell. Id be surprised if they spent 20/30 mil on anyone this window.

TBH I don't see us getting Ederson, I think from a skill set he would fit well but I think we all know Gallagher is the top priority and I wonder if we can't get him now we will just wait until summer and try again hoping Chelsea panic. That or we go for one of the HG youngsters we've been linked to.

5 goals + 1 assist in 20 league games so far this season. That's a healthy contribution and, combined with his defensive stats, suggests he's a pretty well-rounded CM.

Exactly, he really does tick a lot of boxs for our system. Clearly a Paratici pick and its a very good one. I think he'd have no issue coming into the PL ether.
