First place would of course be wonderful, but for my dream season I'd settle quite happily for 16th if we could finish ahead of Chelsea, Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool

Imagine what Kane thinks when we win the league! 😃

This Arsenal/city game is very poor, like a mid table battle rather than quality football

Today is showing that there is nothing to fear, in the words of Liam Gallagher “you can have it all but how much do you want it?”

I think we just need to keep our heads down until January so we can get the depth options we desperately need. If Levy backs Ange then with a couple of strong signings we may have cause for optimism.

I'm not writing off our start to the season, but it is true we've played 4 relegation sides. We've also played 2 title contenders and a couple of mid table sides (that's where UTD are).

It sounds worse than it is. Yes we have a couple of less days rest than Palace (in the Friday game?) but the rest for us is no shorter than Wednesday to Sunday fixtures. We also then get an extra 4 days rest the following match on our MNF game against Chelsea.

The schedule also gives us some additional days to get the likes of Johnson, Gil and GLC fit before the Fulham game on Monday.

Well clearly City are out the title race and it's a North London battle for the top. Will be pretty hard for Arsenal catch us though given that in our +10 goal difference, we are +2 in the For column. Pretty unassailable lead that.

Watching today, genuinely nothing to fear
It was a very cagey game. Neither team wanted to take risks. The polar opposite to our style of play which explains why we're above arsenal on goals scored but have also conceded more.

We're definitely a much better watch than both teams these days. I found it a bit boring tbh.

City will most probably bounce back against Brighton.

But they didn't look hungry today. Its not just Rodri missing.

They've still got a sensational squad but KDB out long tern could keep things very interesting at the top

Only posted an hour ago, so I doubt anyone has put it up yet.

Anyway, a very interesting piece from the Beeb - statistically looking at outcomes after getting 20 points from eight games.

#####Note######.........None of the outcomes see us not finishing in the top four. Indeed, none foresee us finishing outside the top three. However, I expect the Dippers to be there or thereabouts, which is why I referred to top four.

To save you the time, here are previous finishes in previous seasons. Of course, the Scum can equally use this argument. Saying that, the portents look good.

Is this the first time to teams have 20 points at this stage or is it not included in previous seasons if it is more than one?

If we had played this run of fixtures in the middle of the season, I reckon much less would be made of the quality of (some of) the opposition. 6-2-0 is a good run no matter who we have played, and especially when those matches include Arsenal away and Liverpool (and United, who've had our number despite being varying degrees of shite in recent seasons).

That said, I agree that we'll get an even better idea of where we are when we've played Newcastle, Brighton and Villa, but the importance of beating the bottom teams (away) shouldn't be underestimated.
