Just because you are not good enough for a club doesnt mean your a bad player

Serge Gnabry (Ars)
De Bruyne (Che)
Salah (Che)
Henry (Juv)

The above are off top of my head, there will be plenty more examples, if we go younger players leaving 'big clubs'.

Michael Keane
Tom Heaton
Danny Drinkwater (was influential in Leicester winning league)

Again I haveonly used the one club above, there are plenty more examples.

Point being - I dont look at a player and think if he isnt good enough for x then he wont do a job for us, Im thinking can this player do a job for us.

If you look at MN basic attributes he’s very quick, strong and tall, all plus points. When you look at the positions he’s played - RB and RM I don’t look at him and think wow or he could be a handy player. I can however see the benefits of bringing him in as a squad utility player and seeing how well he develops.

There's a massive list of players at the rumoured 20m that I'd put ahead of Maitland-Niles. If we've got 20m to spend we should put it in the pot towards a proper replacement for Aurier or back up for Kane. If we really have to see how a CM develops, why not see how Gedson gets on? No reason why he can't do a mediocre job at RB like M-N has been doing for Arsenal.

Gedson is weak and clumsy. MN is strong and very good at shielding the ball. The fact that we’re reportedly actively pursuing MN shows that we need to get our heads around the idea as opposed to saying we want xyz instead.

I mean if we sign him i'll get behind him sure but its just such an odd link and move, why would he even want to come here after being at Arsenal his whole career, just all a bit odd.

Is he any better than Aurier as a RWB? He's seemed decent when he's played but if he was that good surely they'd keep him as their defence is hardly full of worldbeaters, just seems very very odd to me apart from the fact he's HG and young and has PL experience but then for the same price we could get Max Aarons from a team who are not our main rivals.

The Ornstein piece in July specifically said his preferred position was CM.
contextual information by a journalist does not make it true.

He himself stated the wing is his most natural position. Though it may have changed since 2017

What if we made him into another Gnabry though? A delicious thought. Not that I think it’s all that likely, but imagine it.

I don't know much about him just the name; probably from playing FIFA but you mention Gnabry what if he's more like Ox, Wenger always played him wide but his best games were when he was playing CM he was annoyingly handy in that role before injuries, especially for 'pool and England.

Like I said I know nothing about him, I'd rather not give Arsenal cash or room to string us along until the end of a window.
Although if him being HG allows us squad room to sign someone else who isn't then it could make sense for the right price. :censored:

I don’t know anything about him. But if we buy him, and he turns out to be really good at football, then we get to royally take the piss. Got to be worth the risk, I say.

The two words in bold don't make sense together. And yes I know Hercules has said there's some truth but it still doesn't mean we're actively pursuing him.

It is factual that we’re reportedly pursuing him, so the sentence is absolutely fine so long as that’s what he meant.
