It def sounds like that from this report but I reckon there is also quite a lot of guesswork going on with so little time before the window closes and new info coming out all the time.

I just don't see us bringing in 2 attackers when we've already got Son, Richarlison, Deki, Solomon, Perisic and Gil all on the books.

Not seen this guy much isn’t he quite injury prone? After last nights result a bit of trust has gone for Ange how he played the team he did was he not shown the last 10 years where we purposely weakened to “rest” players. If we lose Saturday normal service resumed.

Very encouraging if it happens. Regardless of if one likes him or not its important that if he comes its because he likes what we are trying to build rather then him just being pushed out of Barca.
it is but at the same time there are internal politics going on at his club and he has accepted them. however, anyone's circumstances can change in life so quickly so that shouldn't be viewed just as a negative. I was informed weeks ago as i posted in the fourm that he was the gettable option in the last week and we are going for it.

If it's loan with reasonable option, it may be worth a shot, even with his injury concerns.

I have a strange feeling he's going to be this window's Dybala.

Option, does this mean it's instead of Brennan?

Postecoglou also seems to believe Richarlison has what it takes to play a big role for us.

I like him as a coach, but he is only human and prone to misjudgment. I would be gravely concerned if he was satisfied with our CF options as things stand.

Still disputing this. Perisic and Solomon is more than sufficient relative to other deficiencies within the squad.
Solomon and Perisic are only sufficient on numbers not for quality. We need goals and we aren’t signing a CF so if upgrading with 2 better wingers and 1 who could potentially play up front is the route forward then so be it.

Cant believe we have two arguments going on at the same time

1. Ansu Fati rarely plays 90 mins
2. We have too many left wingers

🤔

Not so much injury prone but one bad injury that’s taken a long time to recover from and not looked back to his old level. That tends to happen after major injuries and players recover at different speeds but it’s possible he recovers fully.

Maybe Perisic and Gil both move on. I think Perisic is really useful and I’d love to see Gil in this system but sometimes a new coach just needs new faces.

no ange wants both talks going on for both players atm crazy time.
I must say it is a little crazy that we are going for two WF and not looking at any CF be it an established one even a younger option like Orban or Marcos Leonardo. I get that Orban was probably over priced in the end and i know we have Veliz but he is clearly not a player we are going to see much of this season. I'm just concerned about going through the season with Son and Richy as our CF's. Our front line does need work in general tho so i guess its about the options available.

Finding it hard to have any concrete opinion on this without knowing the pure loan/option/obligation factor because it completely alters the deal. Ranges from grand to meh to ugly.

How many of them do you believe are good enough to play for a top 4 side as starters/important bench players though? I’d say only Son and Deki have shown the quality in the past to be starters in a very different role to the one asked of them now and Richarlison did alright as a bench player last season. If I’m being honest I think only Son (as a ST, not a winger in this system) and Deki (as a 10, not a winger in this system) can be trusted to perform to a good enough level consistently. As I’ve said already I think we’re 100% doing the right thing in bringing in more quality options for the forward line, if we have too many players, so be it, at least we’ll have enough players to rely on so if we get an injury or two the drop in quality isn’t huge. I don’t trust Gil or Perisic to play regularly at all and Solomon is a player only really suited for when teams park the bus against us IMO. He seems to struggle when he’s left isolated.

It does seem strange but the idea would be create more chances for the strikers and they will finish them.

Richy, Son, Johnson etc can all finish chances reasonably well, we’d just need to create enough for them and with E.g. Son, Maddison, Fati, Kulu, Johnson, Solomon, Perisic we’d have a good amount of options to do that, right now if we lose Maddison we have very little creativity and that’s a big issue no matter who we’d have up front.

That’s how Ange sees it I think.

The prospect of him doing stuff like this in our new system under Ange (alongside Udogie, Maddison, Biss, Sarr, VDV) is pretty exciting. Given he’s only 20, it’s another step to us becoming a really youthful, highly technical, top quality team.

I think you right and there probably aren't any strikers we really like available this summer coupled with how much we only just spent on Richy. I get it of course but Im still concerned by what i've been seeing thus far from Richy. I guess ultimately we think there are more attractive options on the wing this window do decided to focus there as ether way it will need to be looked at at some point soon. I hope this approach pays off.

I don't disagree with you at all mate, I was more talking about how I don't physically think we can sign 2 attackers when we have so many on our books. I don't see us shifting Perisic and Gil this late in the day. We won't be able to register them all.

I still wonder and saw (on Twitter) some more familiar with Fati saying he could also be an option as a False 9 due to his ability to combine in and on top of the box, and being a good finisher.

It really seems that Ange only wants Richarlison (Veliz longterm) as an out an out #9 and that other than that we will be fluid in terms of a front three or there's no gettable #9 at this point in time.

We can sit here all day and say the depth chart is player 1, player 2, etc. But it will be interesting if we get both Fati and Johnson to see how Ange uses our forwards over the next few months

Ange clearly rates Perisic a lot so I doubt he goes. Gil has to go on loan tho at least. Absolutely pointless keeping him on the bench. Regardless what one thinks of Gil I really feel sorry for him, he's been handled awfully since he's been here. Hardly had a sniff and has spent most of his time on the bench before getting sent off on loan halfway through a season twice in a row. No wonder he hasn't developed how we would have hoped.
