Can’t say as I lost any sleep over this falling over. Likewise, initially I thought is it a sign of how we’ve fallen that Brighton gazumped us, but having seen a bit more and thought more, it just looks like we pulled back because the deal wasn’t right, which is probably the right call.
I never quite understood the thinking. Talented yes, but with a huge wage to cover, injury concerns, and in a position we have at least 3 other players who’d be classed as their preferred position, it seemed a bit of a luxury or maybe even opportunity signing rather than calculated squad building.

Wasn’t there some info that Enciso was out for a while, might have been brought in to cover for him?
Yeah that’s certainly why they are getting him. I’m just more surprised by them covering the wages. That will be something like €180k pw they will be paying him. Seems a lot for Brighton considering they won’t be able to recoup any fee from him.

They just spun the same news that we had yesterday about “Ange being key” and now it’s “De Zerbi a key factor”

😂

Another supposed “wonder kid” that the parent club doesn’t seem to want. Don’t get all the fuss.

I really didn’t want him.

He might still be a good player - I don’t really know. But even if he is I don’t see how having a player for 1 year with no option to buy, fits into a longer-term strategy to rebuild the club into contenders.

Actually a cracking bit of business by Brighton, should the lad stay fit and healthy. Gives them two amazing options from the left with himself and Mitoma. Some needed quality in depth, given they will also be in Europe this season.

Unless of course if he has a storming season and they qualify for Europe again as a result.

If we're still looking for a LW then it wouldn't be crazy to suggest this is us. Very much a perfect fit for an Ange winger, much more so than Fati actually.

Nusa actually looks like a good prospect. No chance it's us I'm sure, but a nice bench option for someone to ease into the prem over this season. Weird he'd not be interested given the presumed wage bump and profile.

I see there are tweets from aggregators saying that Ange vetoed this move. The source of the original info is Ornstein. Has anyone seen where this has actually come from?
