Feels like Kenwright had an extra pudding at that dinner and levy didn’t, but still made levy split the bill 50/50.
This is levy taking his revenge

I’ve just watched 6 minutes of Gordon being ineffective. I don’t get it. Can someone explain why we’re looking at this guy more than just that Everton were in financial trouble?

Because there's more to football than a youtube highlights reel. Homegrown, tenacious, can cover multiple positions. Really solid breakout season for me.

I think having hungry players with his attitude coming off the bench is exactly what we need now.

Well maybe you should have watched a lot more Everton games especially the last 2-3 months of the season . The boy can play . He can play anywhere across the midfield shoots on sight . Definitely got the confidence to go on and be a top player . Even when we gave them a stuffing at home you could see he is there next best thing .

he’s homegrown and versatile can definitely see why conte would want him

This all depends on how bad Everton’s financial situation actually is. They obviously don’t want to sell AG but if they’re in a position where they need to sell more players in order to strengthen the squad, you can see how 30m for a young winger with potential might tempt them. Everton fans will riot but they’ll riot harder if they get relegated, and with their current squad they are far from safe.

I don't think he's wing back material. Perhaps as an option in a midfield three or in an attacking three, but not charging up and down the flanks as a wing back.

As excited as I am to get him in, it’s been pretty quiet on the ITK front on this. Obviously not saying that means it won’t happen, but Id allow myself to believe more if one or two had given it the big ??

Been pretty quiet all weekend as well hasn’t it! Was hoping for that cryptic for the ITK thread but guess something changed.

Re Gordon I like him but I don’t think he’s demonstrably better than Gil tbh.

why? He is quick. ,direct, competitive young enough to learn a new role has spent a lot of this season playing wide in a midfield where his role would have at least in part been to cover the full back - I would say those are exactly the credentials we should be looking for

Yeah really quiet, that used to mean things were happening, but all rational, normal thinking has gone out of the window in this window and who knows now!

Gil who has not at any stage looked like a player who is remotely likely to be a premier league footballer against a young lad who had a breakthrough season in the same league

Completely agree. He had one ok moment in the prem beating pulisic but I haven’t seen anything from him

Gordon has a a special character. The sort of player Sir Alex Ferguson would have gone all in on. The last 3 months of the season he lifted the Everton team by 20%. As a junior player who stepped up more than his senior colleagues. He’d be perfect for us as he’s (a) home grown and (b) could play anywhere in conte’s system apart from CB.

Kinda harsh. He had absolutely no time in the prem to get any rhythm or momentum whatsoever. Add to that he was playing in one of the most disjointed teams we’ve ever had. Nobody looked good, not even Kane. Think he deserves a completely clean slate and a summer of hard work under Conte at the very least before he is written off.

Why is that? I feel like it’s actually going to be easier to convert a winger into a full back in Conte system than a full back into a wing back (Conte has done it plenty of times). Gordon is a really strong runner, can go past his man purely with pace/strength, can go either way as he is comfortable with both feet (which again seems to be a feature of a Conte player). I’d say he’d be ideally suited, but I don’t think it’ll happen.

I agree but I think the homegrown thing is an important criteria here... I dont know the intricacies of the rules and quotas etc but we are on the edge it seems.

When I read threads like this you realise how few people on here actually watch games outside of spurs matches. He looks a talent and would be a good signing.

Now if only we did this kind of scouting, 6 minutes is all we need. Imagine how many players we could cover with that sort of efficiency.
