Ozil always seems to be in news for the wrong reasons too.

For someone of his ability he rarely seems to put in a top performance too, they are in a right mess.

Not to stick up for Mr Ozil but he never plays which is why he doesn't put in top performances.

He's very highly rated at City and looks destined to be a great coach someday, but obviously has never managed before so a big risk. For both him personally and Arsenal.

From a Spurs fan point of view I'd much rather they appoint him than an Allegri, Ancelotti or Benitez.
They are falling into this trap of 'excellent assistant coach makes excellent manager' which is not true. There is so much more to it than just coaching well.

Pep, Zidane are often used as examples of ex-players who went straight into big jobs but they actually spent a season or so in control of their B/youth teams. It gives you a sense of how to manage a squad, strategise from game to game, such and such.

Arteta has never done any of that. Secondly, he has no idea of what situation he is walking into at Arsenal.

Have to agree. Arsenal are in a total mess right now and will need a top manager to sort them out. An inexperienced one will not get the job done though I am quite happy to watch them slide down the table

Agreed the last couple of months he has been starting. Previous couple of years he has barely had a sniff, there problems lie with the defence not with fish eyes.

Because he's got progressively worse as the years has gone on, under Wenger he hit his peak in 2015/16 but has stagnated and regressed, he got his contract in 2017 and stopped trying which is the club's fault really for fully indulging him. Under Emery though he stopped playing him because he just wouldn't put the work in hence him not being played much.

Anyway you're right you can't really put the finger of blame on him, he's just the perfect representation of the entire state of the club over the last few years.

Emry showed at PSG that he needs to spend a fortune to win anything and also that he has trouble with the big ego players like Neymar. I think it is pretty clear that Ozil has a big ego

Arsenal need to invest but it's not impossible.

I'd like to see them try this:

Leno,
Chambers - Holding/Saliba - Dunk - Baines
Adama Traore - N'Didi - Matic - Willock
Ings - Vardy

Add in big sam things are looking good. Solid and consistent, this team may not compete for the title but will help get them back where they belong.

Go Arsenal, great job!
