Hopefully DL & AVB can see the same things as the fans and what is missing.

Last year we had Parker and Modric, both collecting from defence, always showing for a pass. We have been missing it this year with dembele and Sandro.

I find it strange BAE wasn't on the bench, surely he is fit enough for the bench now. Iis there truth to recent rumours??
I find BAE situation strange too bud...

anybody else notice that Adebayor didn't join in the celebrations in one of our goals last night (ok he wasn't on the pitch for the last one) and his body language sitting on the bench looked very disinterested when Bale was subbed and high fiving everyone. Probably reading too much into it, just thought I would mention it.

He's a striker and he's not scoring goals. I would be worried if he was smiling and doing that little dance he does. He needs a goal and then we will see the old Ade.

Same problems to last two seasons. When we have a brand new manager, lost our 3 best players, had half our first team out all season, manager hasn't been backed etc

I'll take those same problems at the mo. Bearing in mind we needed a win against Villa away last season for Champions League and we drew, I find it a bizarre time to moan

If people can't enjoy winning 4-0 away, football truly is dying with the masses. Instant gratification required

We're consistently the 4th/5th best team in the country and yet all we do is moan. We're becoming Arsenal, I hope you realise that

Disagree with so much of that. We lost our best 3 players? Was our player of the season (Parker) not one of our best players? or Bale? King was poor last season so definately wasnt one of our best 3 and VDV one of our best 3 last season?

Villa are a very different team this season to last season so you cannot compare the 2 results.

Finally - I never moaned or slated us - i simply refused to get carried away after 1 result and said ill judge AVB at the end of the season rather than after each game like some do.

OK, let me reword: three of our best four players (Bale conceded): Modric, VDV and King, who despite being in decline by his own standards still started 23 games (second most CB behind Kaboul), was our club captain and hugely talismanic. If you want to add Parker – for me I think the 'player of the season' was undeserved, but fine – that makes four of our best five players AVB's been without, as Scotty has been out the whole season, too. At least we're getting him back now

Villa are a very different team, but so are Everton, so are Newcastle, so are lots of teams. My point is that I don't understand finding negativity in such a positive performance and result. It's not particularly aimed at you, it's in general. No one needs to get carried away, positively or negatively. We're pretty much doing as we were, more or less – and considering the upheaval and massive changes that have been made, is extremely commendable. That our manager clearly has further to take us is a good thing

And my point is where did i post any of this?????? For the 4th time - I simply stated that i wont get carried away after 1 win against a team i expected us to beat and i that i will wait until the end of the season before passing judgement. I wish people would read things properly before starting a debate on something that wasnt said.

ps - i know you said it isnt particularly aimed at me - but at least 5 people have claimed i was being negative!!

I think the problem on posts with lots of comments like this one is that people don't necessarily read the conversation properly as they skim it. Apologies if that's what's happened, as such skimming can result in only polarised responses - we're doing great/shit. A lot of more balanced arguments get lost

I noticed this too. Bale's first goal he technically should have passed to Adebayor, luckily he has the talent to take that on, but Ade looked peeved. Then Bale's second he gets on to a pass that would have been going to Ade. Again he looked a bit miffed rather than celebrating. I thought it was specific to these circumstances but maybe not

I might be wrong but if he'd have passed to Ade i think he'd have been given offside. I'd need to see it again.

Chrissivad (who was done with SC), how can you disagree with my statement that the percentage of poster thinking Ade was poor is not 99?
Just because you think he was poor does not mean that everyone does.
I do not dispute your opinion - nor do I care, but I don't see how you can disagree with a fact.
Count he number of posts that are pro-Ade, and the number that are anti-. You will find that the latter does not constitute 99%.

That's what I thought and that's what it looks like on the replays I've seen online. But the camera angles don't cover the whole pitch, so I can't see if there's a fullback off somewhere playing Adebayor onside. If not, by the time Bale controlled the ball, they were both past the last defender and Adebayor would have been offside the moment he touched a pass from Bale.

Not if the pass was backwards or even level, only if Ade was in front of Bale which I dont think he was, but as Bale scored its immaterial. Not like the time last season against Arse. when he didnt score and had he have squared it to Ade then it would have been three nil and probably game over and us third not them.
