The failure to sign Moutinho was an absolute disgrace on the part of Levy.

Bringing in a new coach with the intention of pushing on from the very good job Harry was doing and pushing us to the 'next level' was admirable and ballsy, and the sale of Modric was ultimately unavoidable, but to not sign the one man AVB wanted, and who was available and willing to join for a smaller fee than we obtained for Modric, was a masterclass in undermining your new manager before his first transfer window was even shut.

Wahhhh didn't get a player he wanted shocker. It happens to every single manager at some point. There's no disgrace there. Sealing a transfer is hard enough without having to negotiate with a third party as well. By all accounts we had everything agreed with Porto, then the third party reneged.

You have to wonder why, a few months later, Porto began negotiating to buy out the third party. It was tactical because they wanted to sell and didn't want the third party cocking it up again when the issue is so time-sensitive.

Do you know what happened behind the scenes? Do you really know why he alienated Ade?

Unless we know the reasons then calling AVB an "absolute joke" is a very unfair.

Yup. Working under Mourinho, he undoubtedly saw what's needed to build a winning mentality. He wanted to build a strong mentality within the group, and thought that known slackers that Ade and BAE needed to be removed to achieve that.

We can laugh at that desicion all we want, but who honestly believes that guys with their mentality would have lasted long in top teams?

I see that AVB needed to go, but I'll bet my left nut that he'll win something again before we do.

The only documented incidents I can recall are when Ade arrived back late from the ANC last season and when he went AWOL for a while at the start of this season after his brother died. These are hardly hangable offences and if there were anything more serious than this to consider then why hasn't there been any 'insider' stories or whispers leaked to the press? We desperately needed goals and Ade was a natural fit for AVB's system, any manager with half a brain would've seen the bigger picture and at least made an attempt to man manage Ade back to his former self just like TS has done in 2 games with hardly any effort.

Yes of course Ade has a massive ego and earns obscene money but he's also a senior player with lots of PL experience and is a top striker on his day which was just what we needed. Being forced to train with the kids must have been quite humiliating, I was disappointed at the time as I felt we were only hurting ourselves with this childish stance. That's one of the reasons why I call AVB an absolute joke, he fell out with senior players at Chelsea and let it happen again with us, much to the detriment of the team and our league position IMO.
