Posted this on CFC, but it applies here in my mind:

We can all hope that after January, we are back to full strength...

Add in maybe 2-3 new faces in the Transfer Window (deep-lying midfielder, wing cover, and hopefully another striker) we could really set ourselves up for a really good run of form. We will have gotten our away matches against Man City, Man U, Arsenal out of the way, and can actually do some special things. I will remain hopeful until the last match of the season (unless we are truly out of it), but I agree in that if we can get most of our guys back by the end of January, we could do some special things.

We could really set ourselves up decently for a ‘Tale of 2 Halves’ season when you look at how it shapes up once February comes around: West Brom (A), Newcastle (H), West Ham (A), Arsenal (H), Liverpool (A), Fulham (H), Swansea (A), Everton (H), Chelsea (A), Man City (H), Wigan (A), Southampton (H), Stoke (H), Sunderland (H)

Looking at those matches, there’s a lot of points to be won in that set. If we can stay afloat and lurk in that 4-6 range on the table until this point, and if there’s no other huge injuries, we could set ourselves up nicely for a fantastic finish. We just finally need some luck to break our way in regards to injuries.

Mind games surely. Admitting in a post-match press conference that we need reinforcements would only exacerbate the confidence issues that will result from today's game. A blind man can see that we're in desperate need of creativity in midfield.

Lloris
Walker
Kaboul
Vertonghen
Ekotto
Sandro
Dembele
???
Lennon
Bale
Adebayor

Friedel, Caulker, Naughton, Parker, Sigurdsson, ???, Defoe

To be fair - looking at that potential squad there aren't massive areas for improvement. Just a player who can be a rival for the wings and an attacking mid as I'm not happy with our current options. So on reflection I can see why he said it.

God I wish it was that team starting every week with Willian in as well.

I think he is planning the execution of some players to force Levy's hand in buying replacements.... as long as it is done carefully. We can get money back on insurance, so saving teh time wasted in trying to sell them and we get keen and hungry new players. It is win win.

I am joking...... or am I :cautious:

If he doesn't think we need quality cover after what we're experiencing with this current spate of injuries, then he's deluded. Really like this guy and totally support him, but I don't understand what's going on here.

It's not the best for squad morale if you say "yeah we need some more players," even though he'd be right.

If we don't get another playmaking CM or maybe 10 and someone else I'll be shocked.

AVB.......I want Moutinho
Levy: Here's Dembele
AVB: I want Willian
Levy: Here's Dempsey

From this I draw two conclusions........Firstly, you might want to prepare yourself for a shock. Secondly, i'm a cynical ****.

Kaboul, Parker, Dembele, Ade up to speed will be like 4 new very good signings coming in.

If we can add one or two quality players as well then that is as much as we could hope for.

Not easy to get quality signings in the mid season window though. That is summer window stuff usually.

After what? 10 games at a new club after just getting over an injury? Jesus, get a grip and give the lad a chance for fuck sake. Spurs fans are really beginning to piss me off.

Either Levy spends some money in Jan or he doesn't. If he doesn't he needs to be honest. We simply don't have it/we need to hold it back for further stadium biz. He simply can't hang AVB out to dry with the fans again.

Levy runs the club and ultimately sets the agenda. The decimation of the midfield doesn't tally with one of immediate top 4 pushes. Fair enough if the finances dictate that for now. Come out and tell the fans that then. Sure some might throw a strop and you'll lose a few quid but this disconnect isn't going to help AVB otherwise and ultimately the team we do put out every week.

So man up, Daniel, whichever way it is.

Obviously it'd be good to buy in January but only if they are players we want in the long-term. We are very much in the building process and I'd hate to see us buy a stop gap on a 4 year contract only for him who is then improved on in the summer and we're stuck with someone we don't want.

AVB gets to work with the players everyday and hopefully he can identify who has real potential and who doesn't make the grade. At the end of the season I hope AVB is ruthless with regards to selling players and starts to creat a squad in the image that he requires.

If quality is available in Jan then great.

We need one or two additions and the moutinho cash must be sitting in the bank ready to be splashed. I think that ship has sailed, but Willian could be an option still.

After yesterday performance, i think we desperately need parker's all action heart and passion, because the shit-show was as insipid as it gets.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

i think its squad morale talk, especially after a game like that you can't say yeah we need this and that, its not constructive. i think for the style of play we are looking ti achieve you have to look at Chelsea in their current state.

Mata, Oscar where identified by AVB and they are the creative flair and dynamic playerd that we are missing, and RDM although not entirely inherited that. We need something in January, just not sure if our scouting is up to it, especially if Pleat has anyones ear, he bought Dochety to the club, the worst player i have ever seen and it makes me shudder every time to think of Pleat in that sort of role.

I still wonder why we didn't keep the £14m we spent on Dempsey and Sig! Neither will make it at Tottenham.

Strange, strange purchases.

I doubt we will do much in January. We never usually do. January just gone was the perfect time for us to push on and take 3rd ( keep 3rd ) and quite possibly change the short term future of the club. We didn't do a jot. This coming January we will be way off the pace for 4th I reckon so can't see us chucking money at it. There really is no difference between 7/8th and that's where we are ending up this season.
