According to this we have the youngest average age for a starting 11 in the league at 24 and 352 days.

That must have been one of the youngest sides in a final for quite a while.

i think it's the average over the entire season, so games from earlier in the season are also taken into account which brings the average age up.

It's nice to have a young squad but I wish we had a pair of older experienced fullbacks to act as backup or to steady the ship when needed.

I remember us being praised for having one of it not the youngest squads under job jjol/arneson too with huddlestone, routledge, Lennon, Dawson, Reid, defoe, Carrick, jenas, Robinson and Keane.

Still didn't achieve anything until old red added a little experience peppered with genuine world class

Still reckon we could do with one or two older/wiser heads. Remember us signing Naybet many years ago and Ledley still talks about the positive influence that had on his game. The Man Utd class of '93 regularly mention the effect of Schmeical and Cantona on the team. Our young squad might grow and improve even more quickly with a bit of experience to guide them.

Problem is you'd have to find the right kind of older player who is prepared to play in a high-intensity pressing system. Not sure that there's many around with the appetite or legs for it.
