One of my favourite parts of the match today was with Perisic.

Barca starting to get a bit too comfortable on the ball, so he just casually kicks a couple - including the keeper iirc.

Absolutely what we need with what might end up being a very young squad.
Yep, I posted earlier he decided to knock them out of their stride, unfortunately that was just before he was substituted.
The commentator said it was frustration but it wasn't, he's just cute.

He's a lovely bloke but it's kind of a miracle that Dier has lasted this long at Spurs tbh.

Only reason he's still here is because we hired 3 successive defensive managers that allowed him to play to his strengths in a deep defensive line and not expose his weaknesses (as much).

In a team that tries to play football he's not even good enough to even be 4th choice anymore. If he wants to stay this season he really shouldn't be expecting to get on the pitch very much, if at all.

Didn't manage to watch the game but I take it Dier was totally to blame for 3 of the 4 Barca goals?

Can't recall. He wasn't great but I was looking at the many positives. Sanchez was great tonight. Did they mention that?

I think the system takes the major part of the blame, but following on from the end of last season, he gets into the right area but just doesn't do enough.

Can't believe the criticism Vicario is getting. Look at the "protection" he's had in front of him.

I'll reserve judgement until he's had a run of games in the PL with a better back 4.

I don't get what Vicario did wrong ? Not even one action I remember where you say his action was questionable.
Even when he did the header and then backpedalled to save the shot - it wasnt wrong decisons.

Ball was over the top with 2 Barca forwards around him and no Spurs defender around, he headed it from edge of box and then ran back to defend the shot

I have seen some fans today criticising for the sake of it, which is annoying

Clive alens predicted 11 for Sunday for what it's worth

Vic
Emerson romero vdv udoghie
Bissouma
Hojberg maddison
Kulu kane son

If that's the eleven it would be weird that they didn't play that midfield together not once in pre season.

I'd have GLC for PEH

If he's one of 5 CBs including Phillips, with 2 new first team CBs, i'll bet he won't even play a minute.

3 of the 4 goals down to Reguillon - defensive positioning, losing men in transition, getting beaten on standing start by a 16 yr old....

Dier partially responsible for one of them, where he rather wanted to be a mannequin than a defender.

Its same old mistakes - lets hope with arrival of Udoge, VDV and another CB we can change these type of defending

He made two stand out saves tonight: the defence in front of him tonight were more questionable and have had how many more chances to fail. For me Vicario not at fault: early days people.

Thanks. Saw all the dier hate and I missed everything from 1-2.

I still think we'd be mad to go into the season with a raw 18 year old kid as our 4th choice CB but if Phillips can move I'd certainly be temped to give him a go over Dier at the moment.

Odds on for the new scapegoat at this stage unfortunately.

So are we all slagging Dier and Vicario (seriously?) rather than plauding Sanchez and Bissouma and numerous others for a great performance?
