Just met up with some old Spurs friends and it got me thinking about my time as a Spurs fan, and through some lean years have gathered some great memories.

But was thinking what is my best memory as a Spurs fan...

There have been some top moments, my first season as a regular at the Lane was in 89/90 we started standing (yes standing) in the Paxton but i couldn't hack that so we moved to Paxton upper half way through the season.
Remember feeling that every free-kick from about 25 yards out would be a goal such was Gazza's accuracy. I remember some days during my first season where we would turn up without tickets and get quite reasonably priced tickets from touts (at about 2.55pm when they started panicking) but only a few times.

Had some great away days, mainly the company kept and journeys to grounds that made them what they were (especially on a trip to Anfield when we never actually made the game despite having tickets but had a top day none the less)

Been to a few Dinner & Dances, one where after seeing Gazza leave his seat i took it upon myself (with great timing i might add) to utter the phrase "Is Gascoigne going to have a crap.... (just as he turns into the bathroom) He is you know!
Another D & D memory where i went to the toilet (not only got toilet based memories) and was at the urinal emptying my unusually large bladder when i hear a stream start up next to me, and who should be standing there? None other than Darren Anderton, who looks at me and says "alright?" now i know he's being polite but that's bad bathroom etiquette! you don't speak to a stranger taking a piss, even if he does know you, what can i say in return? 'Nice Penis!'
No i didn't say that, don't remember even looking, just nodded and carried on... Worst thing about the Dinner & Dances was that one year when we got there we discovered that Peter Cook was due to have given the after dinner speech. But he had just died and instead we had to endure a speech by Richard Fucking Littlejohn (actual middle name)

But the best moment has to be on my first trip to Wemberly on a fateful day 14th April 1991 :hump: everything about the day was top, I had had a great night the night before where most of my mates were jealous as they were only watching on TV (not enough points)

From the songs sung on the way there in the underground, seeing the beautiful Spurs team on the hallowed turf up against the (historically and still at this point) long ball Goons, can't remember much about the game TBH but i know if a put a dvd in the memories come flooding back (so it's not Alzheimer's...) all i can really remember are the goals and (i think?) one moment where Gazza slapped Lee Dixon (started off as a sort of yeah yeah alright mate gesture of a slap with three little taps, but then in the end gave him a real clout  )

After the first goal i just remember jumping up and down and hugging my brother, but by the 2nd & 3rd goals the hugging and jumping around had become so broad that i was hugging and jumping on people from 4-5 rows away (took this chance to give a nice hug to a young lady i had spotted a few rows ahead of me )

in the tunnel down Wembley way on the way back to the station i also remember some great banter with the double feeling songs blasting out, and there didn't appear to be any hostility from the Goons...

There have been plenty of good memories since; games like The 5-1 Vs Chelsea in the Cup and whole renditions of "what do you wanna make those eyes at me for" sung at the Lane that spring to mind, but the above are my best memories of my time as a Spur.

Anyone else care to share theirs...

I've had a number of chances to meet players over the years which is always great for a fan but my best memories have to be about games. There are 3 that stand out:

1. The semi against arsenal (20 years ago!) - sitting behind 5 bellies and celebrating with him as Gazza hit that goal.
2. The 99 cup final aginst Leicester - not a good game but the first time i'd seen a Spurs captain pick up a trophy in the flesh
3. The Inter game last month - simply one of the best nights i've ever had at the lane, the noise, the fans, the Bale.

So many shit threads on this site and this 1 gets ignored, I must bump it.

1) Being allowed to stay up late as a 7 year old and watch us win the UEFA Cup in 1984.
2) My first ever live Spurs game, 1985 trip to Anfield, Garth Crookes breaking our 73 year jinx.
3) The 91 Cup Semi final (I was playing cricket for school and had to miss the final)
4) Watching us beat Wigan away last season, 0-3. My Dad died a month before and it was the first game I'd been to without him. He had played for Wigan in the 1970's and had a season ticket for them, despite being a yid. Wigan v Spurs had become an event for us. Emotional day.
5) Against Inter at home, a rare trip to the Lane and a fantastic game, atmosphere etc. To see us in the CL demolishing the Champions of Europe was great.

My first trip to the Lane. Thanks to the brilliant efforts of 'whatshappenin', I went and saw our first home game of the 2007/8 season v Everton. Which we lost. 3-1. Although disappointing to lose, I'll never forget the first time I stepped into the Park Lane. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

Arse v Spurs 4-4 in 2008. That to me was the start of everything that's been good about Harry's tenure. I was in the away end and when Azza netted the rebound from Modder's cracking strike, I've never felt anything like it. Us Yids in the away end went bananas - I've never hugged so many random blokes in my life.

Citeh v Spurs - the CL qualifier game. I actually had a tear. Gay, but it felt so fucking good.

League Cup final win 2008. Great memory. Woody's face!

Spurs v Chavski 4-4 at the Lane in 2008. We were dead and buried. What a comeback. The great sulk almost snatched 3 points for us at the death. That would have been magic, but what a game.

Finally Inter at home. I hope that wasn't our cup final. That night showed what Spurs are all about. When we are on, we are almost unplayable. Imagine playing like that every week! That was as good as I've every seen Spurs play. Let's hope that's just the start....

Nice thread. There are so many highs (and lows!) in the 25 years or so that I've been watching Spurs.

First ever match I went to, away at QPR in the mid-eighties. We won 5-2 and I think all our goals were scored in the first half. Remember my uncle explaining the offside trap when we scored a goal that was ruled out for offside.

Staning on the paxton in the early 90's and watching us score 4 in 4 minutes against Southampton, bing 1-0 down.

The 5-1 semi's against A*****l & Chelsea, coming out the ground without a scummy A*****l/Chelsea fan in sight.

Away trip to Braga a few years ago, my first overseas trip watching Spurs with about another 7,000 Spurs fans.

Finally beating Chelsea in 2006, with Lennon getting the winner and kissing my mate on the lips. Also, the wonderful final with Woodgate snatching the winner.

The 91 final - first time I saw us win a trophy and the parade in Tottenham the day after.

The 9 -1 Wigan game last year, amazing match.

However, like so many others - Best match ever was the 3 -1 at Wembley against the Scum. First ever Wembley semi, stopping their double, Gazza running riot, completely outsinging them, going mental after the game, etc.

2-6 win away to Wimbledon in 1998 with Klinsmann getting 4, I'll never forget that day.

The 5-1 over Arsenal, and last seasons 2-1. Also, the 2-1 win last season is the only time we've beaten them with Judas in their side.

The 2-0 FA Cup replay at home to Leeds in 1999

The CC final win in 2008.

The 4-5 loss at home to Arsenal in Jols first official game (was lucky to be alive after a huge crash that morning, so to be at an amazing game not long after against Arsenal was special).

Both the loss away in Guisseppe Meazza, and the 3-1 at home this season over the two games v Inter. I'll never forget a train crammed with yids as far as the eye could see singing 'Oh when the Spurs' and 'He was born to play for Spurs' in the early hours after the first game.

9-1 over Wigan last season has to be up there.

Spurs v Arsenal FA Cup semi final at Old Trafford - yes we lost but I'd just finished uni & come back home, 3 of us drove up - felt like a homecoming, moving back to London, Hoddle back at the Lane, Sol said he'd be staying that day. Look how badly it all turned out..

Inter away was fun too - first away European game. Boozing it up with yids from all round the world (big up to the Swedish contingent!)

Ronnie 'rocket' Rosenthal's hat trick vs Southampton.

I think it was the FA Cup 4th Round. 2-0 down and he came on for Teddy I think. Then a masterclass. I was young at the time and it was more or less the first time I ever saw him play. That last goal will always live with me.

VS leeds in the FA Cup a few years ago when Ginola completly ran the whole game. Nearly scored the best goal I've ever seen and then scored a cracking volley. And Anderton hit a beauty.

Last seasons heroics were pretty special. And the Arsenal 4-4 game. That was brilliant

First visit to the Lane in 73 when we beat manu 2-1, the 3-1 semi final and an odd one in 1993 we scored 4 goals in about 6 minutes against Southampton. We won 4-2 and even Ian Dowie managed to score against us.

5-1 versus the goons in the semi final a couple years ago is my greatest memory of spurs. my first NLD and there was just something really special about that night. You could feel it in the air, around the stadium, that something special was about to take place.

Aside from that game, the 4-0 vs twente was amazing. Hearing the champions league music play around WHL is something i'll never forget. "We're all going on a European Tour"

The 3-2 game vs Aalborg a few years ago was amazing as well. That was my first European night at the lane, and the atmosphere was amazing. Coming back from 2 goals down was amazing.

2-1 vs liverpool last season gets a good shout as well, Benny's screamer is probably the best goal i've ever seen live. No one knew where the ball had gone for a second it happened so fast!
