Just a couple of points for those moaning about the supposedly weak selection. Firstly the team will have played 8 games in 26 days by the end of tonights match, that's little more than 3 days between matches, on average. That's a lot of games and Poch has to make the best of it.

With that in mind it would be very careless to assume that we can just turn up against Villa to win the game. We are in second and have to make sure that we play the best players, in as good a condition as possible for the league matches to try and ensure we finish in one of the CL places. It should also be noted that West Ham are on good form and Lollerpuddle and Chelski also seem to be hitting form, so 4th is by no means guaranteed. We only need to drop points where we really should win to bring this forum into a complete meltdown. I think Poch has made a good selection and that we could well see the front 4 and one of the two CM's unsettle Dortmund's defensive set up by quick movement and passing. It certainly worked against Monaco and Fiorentina.

Who else would you play given that Kane and Dier are running on empty, and Dembele has just come back from a groin injury and probably couldn't handle two games in a week?

I would still have started Kane, can always pull him off if needed

With that team against Dortmund's full strength side the second leg may be just a practice exercise for both teams.

This isn't a team we could blow away in the first half and bring Kane off in the second with a lead. If the game is close with 20 minutes left, put Kane on and try to nick a goal.

This is as good as a line up as we could expect. We need to get back to winning ways in the P.L.

Considering we play Villa on Sunday we could easily have gone stronger tonight. Hopefully we won't leave ourselves too much to do next week.

You mean us? I thought same. Was just thinking would it be Eriksen or Onomah?

Both rotating I'd suspect, Josh maybe covering runs more than Christian as he must be knackered as well (though I see him as a middle distance runner, more able to cope with fatigue).

I wanted the league prioritised so it would be hypocritical of me to now moan that Poch has fielded a weakened team.

However, can't help feeling we should have gone 4-3-3 and put in Bentaleb for some added steel in what looks like a ridiculously light weight midfield against one of Dortmund's quality.

If Poch's strategy is similar to that against Fiorentina (as in field weak side away, keep it tight then blow them away at home with a full strength side) then I think he's being a bit naive.

This game will be won over 2 legs, not 1... We can't afford to take a 2 or 3 goal hammering today as there is next to no chance of our strongest side thrashing Dortmund in the home tie.

This rotation just means a comprehensive victory is required Sunday otherwise there'll be egg on faces.

Surprised but not upset with the team. We'll do well to come away with a -2 goal difference.

My main worry is who's gonna win the ball back. Midfield lacking some bite but good technicians in there so here's hoping!!

Whingers everywhere!

I can't see much wrong to be honest, considering who we have available. A very attack-minded team, arguably 2 of our most creative players in Mason & Carroll sitting in front of a solid defence. Hope they all have a great game! COYS!
