The game thread is particularly toxic. You have to love some of the criticism that goes on in there because others will often see aspects we miss, so when done well, it's a great place to spend time even when we're losing. But as you said, the OTT commentary of "get rid", "Son has left for Asia", "worse than Conte and Jose combined", blah blah blah. it is tiresome. Probably should have a second game thread for us "happy clappers".
Or you could call it the "happy losers" thread?

For fans who just want to say positive things when we play badly.

I think that's a great idea

Sadly we may be seeing what ends up costing Ange his job today.

No doubt this is due to some atrocious players left over from previous Managers but this type of shambolic defensive display has happened before under this Manager.

I hope i’m wrong

LOL. You're having a bad outing yourself today. I was quite specific and said that even in a losing effort, the legit criticism is great. The OTT stuff isn't. Not sure why that is so controversial because it is doubtful that you think the OTT stuff is okay. And we Americans with all our limitations watching "soccer" can spot the difference between a whinge and insightful critique.

Really bizarre game. Feel like we could/should have scored 8 or 9. Our defence has been shocking and our sloppy indiscipline has cost us again.
Ironically it wasn’t our defense that conceded the goals. The first one is down to Son. It’s his job to pick up their RB. The second is Kulusevski being a lazy idiot. He did the same in the last game but got away with it. The third was a worldie but both Johnson and Kulusevski made only a half hearted effort to close him down. The forth is more stupidity, this time from Lo Celso.

Of course the OTT stuff is over the top but you're in the matchday thread on a football forum.

People are venting as they are emotionally involved in the game.

It's more annoying to have this stuff policed by other members who seem to lose their minds at the first sniff of anything that isn't positive.

Just ignore it.

I thought it was the taking off of Richarlison.
Richarlison was probably, marginally, the best of the front 4. Didn’t have his shooting boots on and drifted off side too much but he was the only one troubling their defense. Should have taken off Son who was gash all game.

Fair comment. Cheers.

This is flawed logic - first just because
some 18 year olds are doing well doesn’t mean any can, and second CB is probably the toughest position for a kid to play, and you’re talking about dropping one in alongside a non specialist.
He certainly wouldn't have done worse than what we had last night and how do you know unless you play him? Over the years we've lost good young players because they were never given a chance and we could lose the one's we have now unless they get games. If you don't play them when you have a long injury list then when will you?

No first choice CB2 and arguably not our first choice CM3, when you think it should be Romero & VdV, and Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison.
That just shows why we were so easy to play through and so sloppy. A lot of misplaced passes put us in trouble.
However, to finish as strong as we did shows the new side of Spurs under Ange. We keep that urgency over greater periods and we’ll be fine.
I always had this year down as a transition year, but ultimately Ange’s fast start probably got us ahead of ourselves.
Make 3-4 smart moves in the January window, start to get some players back from injury, and I expect us to finish the season strongly.
As an aside, really pleased for Veliz to get his goal, that’s a positive to take. Penalty aside, Lo Celso added some tempo too.
With those players you mentioned, we were stopping opposition attacks really quickly. And like you say much harder to play through.

I think most chances we gave the opposition were because we had 1 or 2 sloppy moments with the ball but the opposition couldn't sustain it cause we just had too much for them.

Now we are easy to play through and a lot of players are just chasing shadows

He’s at fault for the first goal. He’s at LW so when he comes back to help the defense he’s supposed to pick up their RB. He didn’t he wandered in towards the Centre so the RB had acres of space and time to take his shot. For someone with his experience, and captain that’s inexcusable.
Not to mention how he had three horrible touches in a row and gave them the ball in our half, where they went on to score.

That result had been coming , you can’t continuously allow teams that many chances at goal and expect to keep wining games , again Vicario keeps the score line respectable (just) but it’s not a sustainable way of playing whilst we have so many players out . I expect the Bournemouth game to be harder than last night as they will have had 2 days more rest and they are a high pressing team in form . We are going to limp into February and hope that we get a few players back and we hit the ground running when they do .

No team can cope with a completely missing spine. We know how important Romero is and after 10 games, arguably Maddison and VDV were two of the best players in the division. Add to that the loss of Bissouma and Bentancur, that's 5 crucial players out at the same time. Lets see the Arse or Liverpool cope with that. This defeat is a bitter blow - esp to see us in such a mess after 75 mins - but semi of expected when you rely on the backups who consistently disappoint us.

The likes of Davies, Royal, PEH, Skipp, GLC, Gil - they try hard, but they just dont have the quality of Cuti, VDV, Maddison, Bis or Bentancur. This "current" team is totally different from THAT team in the first ten games. I just hope we're not too far off the top 4 when we get our difference-makers back.

We had an amazing start but just 10 points from the last 27 is worryingly as we will not get our best players back for several more games.

Watching yesterday’s game it was evident that when we attacked around their box they closed us down so we
Couldn’t get shots in and so tried to almost walk the ball in. On the other hand when Brighton attacked we seemed to stand off them. The classic one was the second penalty. Silly from Lo Celso but Ferguson was in clear space, about to shoot and our defenders stood off him with arms behind their backs inviting the shot. That is leads to do with quality and more to do with organisation. Other teams, like Brighton, have major injuries but seem to overcome them. We
Need to find ways to do the same as well as over time improve the squad.
