If we go for Benteke, I see one of Ade/Defoe being sold, and a younger cheaper player with potential being signed as 3rd striker. Can't see either of Ade or Defoe being 3rd choice, and you don't shell out the sort of cash Villa will demand to have Benteke not be first choice.
Benteke, Ade/Defoe and an Oliviera/Rebic type player.
Realistically, I don't actually think we'll get him, at least not unless Villa reduce their asking price. Don't see us going over £20m. I think it's only someone like Benteke we would go up to £20m, as he has been proven in PL, and is young enough to meet Levy's ticklist of potential sell on. I think we'll go after a younger striker soon(ish) as third choice, so we have sufficient depth, more than last year. Then we'll spend the rest of the window trying to upgrade in one of Ade and Defoe. That way, if we don't manage to sign anyone, we still go into the season with three strikers, two experienced PL.
For what it's worth, my father in law is a Villa STH, and rates him quite highly. He said the improvement he made over the season was very good. Came with potential and all the physical tools, and noticeably improved the more he played. He's also very disappointed he has not shown more loyalty, as Vilka have him his breakout chance. Feels his agent is driving a move.
