I hope we start using him instead of AT. Suits our style better

Although I want to see him get the chance, I still feel he needs to prove himself to be worthy of taking Townsend or Lennon's place in the rotation in the long run.

Yep. And tho we've him be selfish during the pre-season ( which i believe it was him trying his best to show Poch and the coaches that he can be a dynamic attacking threat) he showed great link up with Erik and Bobby. Would like to see a

---- Soldado----
---Eriksen --- Lamela -- Ceballos----

With all four interchaging whilst creating that fluid attacking play.

Spurs were trying to capture a South African market for a while. I wonder how successful it's been?
Awareness, yes - supporters... no. All Liverpool, ar*enal, Chelsea & united crazy like the rest of Africa

signing khumalo and not even giving the geeza a chance has not gone down well here - decent player but was always a strange signing. Good in the air and very comfortable on the ball and had a good loan spell in Greece but not better than what we've had in the last few years

He's been injured for a few months now, but should be back soon to go on loan again

For 1,5m we got what we paid for basically

DL seems to be clearing the decks now so surprised that CC is in the mix. EL games-maybe as a sub is all I can see on the horizon.

FC Copenhagen is an example of "capturing" the South African market.

Became national captain on that goal (or something)...

Shirt sales in SA - yes, apparently.

Yeah he got rid of the dead wood and injury prone that were willing to leave to see game time.

Ceballos hasn't shown himself to be deadwood, and he's clearly been working hard to be in the squad mix. It makes sense.

O/T:

Well no matter how good or bad we were at capturing a market here spurs will always have me :D?

We have prominent Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal supporters here but I know of a few die hard spurs fans out there. We are few and far between but we talk for days when we get together and talk football, unlike the plastic fans whose words consist mostly of: "Did you check that goal boet!!! CHELSEA" type comments and absolutely no real intelligence to their conversations.

Our market is killing itself I'm afraid. I am a youth coach and there is no real development for younger players at any level as most of the PSL clubs have too many names on the books as it is. There is no policy on how many under 23's can be in a squad and no real development academies at the bigger clubs that actually end up using the younger lads for first team. The youth is truly talented though I know of a few boys who could make it big in Europe given the chance but that's not likely to happen with our infrastructure.

On/T:

Ceballos Is a keen prospect for us although I haven't seen much of him play since he returned from loan. (We don't get Portuguese league here anymore).

Probably cheap as chips if you want EL squad fodder compared with the likes of Holtby. Honestly thought he was older than 21 too, no bad thing to give him a go at times.

Yeah I'm from Zim (although been out for many years) an it's the same there. Liverpool mainly, alot of UTD & Arsenal fans and then the Johnny come lateleys to Chelsea. Annoying pricks.

Sad to hear about the state of youth soccer in SA. I guess most of the interest and funding still goes to Rugby and Cricket, huh?

Why wouldn.t you want Townsend to play n develop...I dont get it.
He's more of a well rounded player already and is receptive/responsive to instructions.

In others words, Ceballos is a better horse to back.

You could say it goes nowhere other than the politicians pockets I'm afraid corruption is rife at every level and none of the funds are actually going into any kind of sports development only the big private schools still have good coaching and developing platforms but a small percentage of people can afford this. Most of our talent lies in the townships if only we could get it on to a bigger stage.

Because I don't think he understands the game.

The same way, why wouldn't you want Ceballos to play and develop??

I personally have no problem with Ceballos playing games but tbh it came across to me that you hope AT isnt playing at all.
