I honestly don't think Kane could match Marica's stats from last season in the championship let alone the Bundesliga - and his stats aren't even that impressive. Kane has got a long way to go if he's going to make it in the premiership imo

but he is good enough to be our third/fourth/fifth choice striker. i would prefer any youngster to be given a chance before paying marica

Arsenal and West Ham target Ciprian Marica has revealed he is in talks with three clubs over a move and will sign for one of them in the coming days.
Romania international Marica is currently a free agent after leaving Schalke, where he struggled for goals during a two-year stint with the club.
However, his agent has offered the player to both Arsenal and West Ham, who are short on forward options, and are believed to be keen on his services.
‘I am in negotiations with three teams,’ he said.Marica has twice said he is closer to signing with the Gunners than any other team, but speaking at a press conference this week, the 27-year-old says there are other options on the table.
‘I hope I will be able to tell you the name of my next team by the end of next week.’
Marica, who can also play out wide, has enjoyed spells with Dinamo Bucharest, Shakhtar Donetsk and Stuttgart, and has scored 22 goals in 64 matches for Romania.

Do we really need Romanian free agent striker who's cold for past 3 or 4 years? I think we can survive with Soldado and Defoe till January and then buy a decent striker if needed.

So The Mirror is stating he has snubbed Arsenal and West Ham for us. They basically state that we will be signing him.

For me, I really don't like the move. Adebayor may be a petulant individual, but having him playing with the reserves does no one any good. We end up biting the bullet on probably the biggest contract at our club for nothing. His value continues to plummet. And, if Levy expects to get the money we paid for him back, there's little chance of that happening if no one can actually see him play.

Adebayor is better than Marica. Quite honestly, I'd be more willing to give Kane match minutes as opposed to Marica. I just never felt he was any good. A real lacking finisher, doesn't add anything to the attack but can serve as a decent target man type. For me, his quality is of a mid table side in the EPL. And, if bringing in Marica gets us further away from adding a young #9 for the future, I can't put into words how much I dislike the move.

£60k a week for 3 years for a player who couldn't find a club all summer. Sounds like a daft deal to me.

Maybe Vlad put in a good word about him or something? That's about the only reason I could see this happening. Holtby might have said something too?

Know nothing about this guy, but with how the mirror is wording their article and the whole Ade saga this could happen.
I just hope the 60k wage is not true, since smell like another case where we later cant shift a player due to wages.

The fact that he is 29 and not many of us have heard of him suggests this is media bullshit, at least i hope so, and no way would we give this guy £60k pw, no, not, never..

Tbf he's 27 and not many of us had ever heard of Chirches or Capoue either.

Actually met the guy when he was a younger player and he impressed me a lot, so kept an eye on his career. A better footballer than a lot of people here would give him credit for, few moves haven't worked out, but has a bit of everything about him. For a free transfer I don't think there are many better options out there and we do need striking depth.

I was going with the thought that any decent striker would be known to us, defenders and central Midfielder's less so, although i had heard of Capoue, and seen him play only once but couldn't of told you what his best position was etc..

He also played a few seasons together with Holtby at Schalke and obviously beeing romanian him and Chiriches will help eachother settle. If we have given up on Ade i guess we could do worse as our third choice striker.
