Could we have had a stab at the title this year?

If they win the League this season....................they will be even better next year.

Maybe, maybe not, they will have CL football to maintain for a start and I'm not sure their squad is as deep in quality as the likes of Chelsea and ManC. Winning the title and getting CL will of course help them strengthen further and keep Suarez for at least one more year, but if RM come along and offer 100m that might turn Suarez's head and be hard to turn down. I think he'll stay next year no matter what though. Liverpool have him on a shiney new contract so are in the driving seat now.

What we need most in any new players is footballing intelligence.

Only two players have truly shown any this season, Eriksen, and strangely Kane. I think maybe Holtby could come into that bracket. Their decision making in terms of passing, shooting or running with the ball is far and away better than any other player at out club.

Maybe if this happens we may start next season actually playing as a team instead of a collection of individuals.

And its well known that Levy refused to sell him to a Prem club anyway.

No it isn't though. If Man U offered £125m and he was willing to go there then he would have gone. An ITK came out and said it is all about the money with Levy and who ever offers the highest, wins. Chelsea's 40m last day bid for Modric was a fabricated story.

Absolutely spot on. Rodgers clearly looks at players that fit his particular model, Baldini/Levy/AVB were just buying players with no long term planning or structure at all. The scattergun approach was embarrassing then and it's embarrassing now.

I would definitely agree with this......for me we just bought players without due consideration to their attributes for a certain position and without having a blueprint for the team.
We have a lot of players who are either too small, not strong enough or not quick enough for the positions we want them to play.
We looked like we bought players for a particular system and then we NEVER played it.

In terms of pure ability, I think most people would have said we were at least level with Liverpool at the start of the season.

That's what makes our current predicament so frustrating. Whereas Liverpool have made the most of, in fact exceeded, the quality of their squad, both AVB and Sherwood have made our talented squad look like a bunch of lead doughnuts.

Sadly we will now lose a lot of those good players and will have to start again. I'd be amazed if we finish within 10 points of Liverpool next season.

Not too sure how the manager can coach players to be quicker which is one of Liverpools biggest weapons

If Liverpool had signed some of the players we bought last season..............we would still be laughing at them.

Yes it is, after Berby was sold to Man Utd Levy said he would not let one of our players go to a rival team. Modric was told he could not leave for Chelski and Bale would not be sold to a Prem team. As for a ITK saying this , that or the other means nothing.
