Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear he will not wait forever for Antonio Conte to sign a new deal at the club. That’s according to Tuttosport, who say that Tottenham have set a January deadline for the Italian to make a decision about his future.

Conte has a reputation (rightly or wrongly) for walking if he does not get his own way - these stories are just something we and future clubs he manages will have to put up with during his tenure. It's the interlull - journos need something to write about.

You cant really blame him for waiting as he was given a very average summer transfer window this year. The RWB was clearly a priority at the end of last season and all we did was buy him a kid from the championship.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Conte was backed 100% to the hilt. Bar Spence, every single player he signed, he wanted. He also said it could not be done in one window, it needs two or three windows to get his team sorted. We got them in early like he wanted. No reason why he hasn't extended his contract by now. (other than he wants easier success without the build and is holding out for a bigger team)

I did a bit of research. He and Agnelli hate one another. The last time they met he gave Andrea Agnelli the middle finger, Agnelli swore at him. (Now I know that they are Italian, and I love to swear in italian, always have done, used to be fluent in italian, now I can just swear fluently)

But these guys really hate one another, it does not look like the sort of thing that will make him want to go back there......

It cant be 100% if it is bar spence.

I didnt comment on whether he was backed or not anyway, i just assessed it as average. It was nice that transfers were done early but as you said yourself, "bar spence". The RWB position was a critical signing and we didnt sign someone that Conte wanted and needed.

I guess it is the levy effect, produce consistently crap transfer windows where we look for last minute bargains, so when he finally does something he should have done ages ago, which is to buy players early, everyone is duped into thinking it was a great window when in reality the window could have been better.

I don't remember people saying or thinking it was an average window when we signed these players. Quite the opposite. We signed some real talent. Just because they haven't all feature on a regular basis yet, doesn't mean they are average. Conte is notorious for wanting his players up to his standard before he lets them loose. Of course RWB is our biggest weakness now, no doubt we will have that covered in Jan or in the summer. But to be fair, if we had of covered RWB people would moan that we didn't have another position done. We were never going to file every single position in the summer window, but we made a bloody good start.

Of course it could have been better. But Levy has done nothing wrong. It was up to Conte and Paratici to sort the RWB out. Honestly, if we just bought every world class player that Conte no doubt would want to win trophies now, we would go bust!

I dont think January is the deadline but we do need to know one way or another surely? Unless he has that one year option but not sure who can trigger it.

We dont want to be in that position we were and ended up with Nuno.

In your opinion. But clearly not in the opinion of Conte and Paratici otherwise they would have signed a first-team ready player, rather than a talented youngster for the future.

It was reported (by @Trix I believe) that certain players had won Conte over at the end of last season and Royal & Doherty were clearly two of those. He was happy to go into the season with them and upgrade elsewhere in the squad - areas which he considered more vital.

Too many people on this site have a borderline hatred of Royal (and Doherty) and are baffled that we didn't spend millions on an upgrade. Whether the desired quality of replacement was available is one issue but Conte clearly believes he can trust Royal, so accept it.
